The best way to analyze a statement is to keep an open mind

I have heard many time by some organizations that blacks and some Spanish speaking people are the most infected with HIV/AIDS in the United States. We know for certain that this statement is not completely false nor is it completely true. To admit that this statement is completely true is to be convinced that humans can be objective. If we admit that human by nature can not be objective, we must also admit that the above statement may not be completely true. How can one be objective about a particular survey if the person conducting the survey belong to a different group of people? What if a person is offered an incentive to perform a survey, can that person performed the survey to satisfied the donor. Can we really say for certain that it would be the truth and nothing but the truth.

We know that interest is a virtue. Tell me in who's interest it's for and I tell you how it's done. Is is not how the world works. IS there really right or wrong or who's in the right or who's in the wrong. Can wrong be justified? .... many time we've seen it happened. And why has that occurred? well, that would depend on who's interest it's in favor of. We pretend to be just people, we try but we always find ourselves banding the rules to accommodate those we look up to. It seems to me as tough nothing changes. Things remands the same, it is only the versal that carry those aspects of life that changes.

We know that a statement can either be true or false, it can not be both at the same time. Therefore, to say that blacks and Hispanics are the most infected with HIV, we must consider a population count. First of all, we know that blacks count for about 13% of the United state population. Hispanics 14% and Whites 74%. It appeared to me although there are more whites, less of them are infected. Would it be fair is we pose this question ....that not enough whites are tested to have an accurate count. Can we question those who conducted the survey which concluded that Hispanics and Blacks are the most infected. Since humans can not be objective, how accurate can we say those surveys are? why is they a sign on most black neighborhoods asking them to take an HIV test while they is none in most white neighborhoods? Do us blacks the 13% fu_k more than the 74% whites without having protected sex?. Since this virus does not discriminate, I would expect similar signs in the upper class neighborhoods. How can we understand how those result benefit the black communities if most of us are infected?

The statistics are compiled by the CDC. Nobody takes surveys. When someone tests positive the results are recorded and sent to the CDC. It say Blacks and Hispanics are becoming affected at alarming rates, not that they necessarily have more cases than any other race/nationality. This obviously means that more HIV/AIDS awareness programs are needed in black and hispanic neighborhoods.

very well, I would imagine since white count for 74% of the population the HIV/AIDS awareness would also be in their neighborhoods. Perhaps it is because we have a smaller population. In this case if 5% of us are infected is a threat to our population but it doesn't necessarily means that they are more of us infected.

New data analysis recently released via slide set by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) points to an alarming increase in the number of HIV/AIDS cases among young African-American men who have sex with men (MSM). Specifically, young African American/black MSM in the 13-24 age category suffered the largest increase -- up nearly 82 percent from 2001 to 2008.

Black and Latino men account for 70% of all new cases.

Why is the incidence of HIV among black and latino gay and bisexual men continuing to rise?

Rates among these men, regardless of sexual behavior, but especially homosexually active black men, have continued to rise because WE are two of the most pathologized and oppressed groups in this country.

Unfortunately, there is not much of a community sense based on sexual preference, so it’s difficult for this subpopulation to mobilize politically and demand more funding and attention the dynamics driving the epidemic.

A recent review by Greg Millett at the CDC found that a higher co-infection rate with STDs and late HIV testing practices appear to be contributing, but also know for a fact that the higher rates are not due to higher rates of unprotected sex than MSMs of other races/ethnicities, and it’s not due to folks not identifying as 'gay' and its not due to being on the down low, whatever that may mean to different people.

I just don't see whats so hard about strapping up!! I didn't even know it was this serious, but this thread made me want to learn a bit more on the subject myself.

Well I used to work for a HIV/AIDS agency and I also used to be a HIV tester. The agency I worked for targeted African-Americans and Hispanic men and women, but I mostly targeted men....I went to cruising spots in Harlem and The Bronx. When I asked them personal question on a questionaire (which they had an option not to answer if they didn't wanted to). I mean I got the nasty attitudes about condom useage. When asked why don't they use condoms I've gotten "it doesn't feel right", "I didn't have any @ the time I'm about to f$%k, "It doesn't fit me properly nor its the correct size", "I don't like using them". Now I'm not judging b/c no one is perfect in this world, but I do tell them to use a condom b/c it can protect you from HIV and STD's. Some take the advice and some just don't get a flying rats ass. As for the gay, bisexual and men whom classify themselves as "non gay or bisexual"...I've gotten the same excuses as the ones I've posted and also the bisexual and non-bisexual men who sleep with men they figure that they can sleep with men and women they don't have HIV b/c they "don't look sick" and then go back to have unprotected sex with their girlfriend, finace' or wife. If the African-American and Hispanic community (not all but most) would stop being so biased, ignorant and should be talked about within the household and/or their friends. Maybe the percentage won't be so high. People want to claim that HIV/AIDS is a gay disease and its not.... HIV/AIDS don't have a a name or sexual orientation to it, anyone can get it including a new born baby passed from the mother.

79 Stated “The agency I worked for targeted African-Americans and Hispanic men and women” This has direct relation to the question I posed in my above statements. The agency that 79 worked for is not the only agency targeting mostly black and Hispanics. They are many other agencies that are doing the same. I am not in anyway saying that they should not test them. If anything they doing a service to these communities by testing Hispanics & Blacks for potential infection, that is as long as those results are accurate. We know that whites accounts for 74% of the population but yet the focus is on blacks and Hispanics. Could it be that those agencies are looking out for us since we blacks and Hispanics are only 27% of the American population, certainly I wouldn’t count that out. If you think about it if 7% of us are infected it becomes a threat to our population where as if 15% whites are infected it’s still not a threat to their population because they comprise 74%. ENY source stated “Blacks and Latino men account for 70% of all new cases.” I am no way stating that the source is wrong but who to say for sure that equal amount of writes were tested to produce an accurate statistic. Who to say that the Blacks and Hispanics that were tested for this statistic were of equal life styles? It must be understood that HIV/AIDS has some relative with someone life styles and if a test were to be conducted, consideration must be given to that aspect.

However, can we also presume that the incentive to announced those results of HIV/AIDS in those communities can create a division to the extent of us migrating into other races as an attempt to avoid HIV/AIDS? In another word can those results contribute to a total reduction in our population? Obviously if I am afraid of catching HIV/AIDS, I would not want to penetrate without protection which however reduces the chances of getting somebody’s daughter pregnant. Some may argue that you should get married before getting someone pregnant but lets be real considering all the different life styles, is it what you see out there. Now the question then is can HIV/AIDS be use as a way to control population growth? I don’t think so but that doesn’t exclude the possibility. Remember at the beginning of my statement I began by posing the question ….Can humans be objective about a certain issue if the people controlling the distribution of that issue belongs to one racial group. As a Blackman can I write a story and make most of the heros whites?

Stated by ENY “Rates among these men, regardless of sexual behavior, but especially homosexually active black men, have continued to rise because We are two of the most pathologized and oppressed groups in this country.” Is they some truth to this statement, off-cross without a doubt. Blacks and Hispanics are viewed as psychologically abnormal to some whites. Well, that is because they only take a scientific approach into studying us. We are spiritual beans, they is more to us than just flesh and blood. I believe that the energy that controls us is the spirit. The spirit is as inform as the information that we have accepted throughout our lives to be facts. And since energy can either be destroyed or created, when we died the spirit which is our energy source is transfer into another form.

Anyway, not to be off topic, one aspect of life that is part of the high risk of gay men attracting HIV/AIDS, is they ability to get laid so easily. As a heterosexual man if I count deeply, I can almost count how many partners I’ve had. Gay men on average have more sex than straight guys. However though that does not include some married gay men or those that are committed to just one partner. You see it is not because you’re gay that makes you more sustainable to HIV/AIDS; it is only because you promiscuous. And by no means, the same applied to heterosexuals who are promiscuous. Those who say that HIV/AIDS is a gay man disease are incompetent. Yes it is true that gay people have more sex but that doesn’t make it a gay disease. Young Hispanics men and Blacks are afraid to come out because their parents are lest likely to accept them for who they are as compare to whites’ teen’s parents. If most Blacks teen’s parents were educated and open minded, they would have understood that they do not control society. Our children are derivatives of our society, the society they will be brought under will influence their lives and they are nothing parents can do about that other than to educate your child. We must learn to adapt ourselves to society and accept people for who they are. If it’s not your cup of tea don’t drink it otherwise it’s a double standard.

Peace and love.

Now I totally agree with you with that statement. I'm going to share something....I might get hated on, banned or lose some friends after this comment. I'm gay yes you read correctly. My father have a difficult time with it, but he accepts it. My mother cried when I told her, but now she accepts it as so did her mother (my grandmother) and her late husband. The household hold I live with know about me, as for my father side of the family they don't know and I will not tell them. Just b/c I'm gay doesn't mean I'll go around and sleep with tons of men, I'm not promiscuous nor HIV positive. I don't go after straight men. Yes these young Hispanic and African-American men whom are gay and are thrown/kicked out of the house. This is where they become promiscuous, homeless, beat up in the streets and/or school, escort/prostitute themselves to surivive and/or raped. Hince why gay men have so much problems and issuses and thats why they do what they do. I'm not excusing the mistakes or behaviors, but I'm giving the reality of the issue. Parents (biological, guardian or foster) need to learn that all gay people are not whores, sluts and HIV+.

*Side note* Don't get it twisted I'm far from being feminine. If I see any disrespect towards me on here I will go off like a F-5 tornado during a hail and thunderstorm. I am not attracted to anyone on here. If you feel you have a problem with me say it now or forever hold your peace. If you block me, don't feel to be my friend or railfan with me anymore.....that is your choice. I'd be upset, but trust and believe I will be fine. I know it may sound like I have an attitude but I don't. I went through enough hell in my life and I don't need it from anyone off of here.

Thanks for this thread Coolbreeze

I do. I have a problem, with you thinking someone would have a problem with you do to your preference, on this board......

You could have kept this to yourself, but you decided to come out on here, and tell everyone this. You are comfortable being who you are, and that's what counts. I don't have a problem with you, or anyone else, nor will I. I don't judge, or ask why, etc... If we were all the same, life would suck. Just be you, and that's all that matters. Happy to hear your family did accept it. You are correct with alot who chose to come out, being tossed into the streets. It's sad when they are only 14, 15, 16, or 17 years old. They can't do for themselves, but some parents just don't care, and would rather disown than accept. It's sad........

I do know how West-Indian are too with this topic. I am partial West-Indian, and have hung out with more than enough West-Indians, and hear the terms they use. Not good at all......

I'm gonna agree with D on this. There's no reason for anyone on this board to hate you just because you're gay. It's your choice.

(Excuse me, I'm singing along to Queen right now... Freddie Mercury and Elton John was/is gay and nobody had/has a problem with that, so I honestly wonder why there is so much anti-LGBT feelings in this world today... ever hear of Larry King, the middle-schooler who came out, admitted his feelings for some other guy, and was killed because of it? Yes, even from middle-schoolers... it's sad, frankly, that people so young could be prejudiced against someone just because of the other person's sexual orientation.)

Yeah, there are some people out in this world who hate gay people simply because they're gay. You won't find those people here. Trust me, as I believe I speak for everybody here, even though I've only been in this community for a few months. Thanks.....I meant I was showing this thread to Orion and Majinvegeta on AIM last night or late this morning. We had a good decision about. I was telling Orion should tell ppl on here that I'm gay, he was like no @ 1st then he was like its up to me. So after 5-10 mintues of thinking I did. I'm West Indian also I'm from Trinidad. Its usually Jamaicans that have a huge problem with homosexuality. Trust and believe I've heard the nasty name gay get from West Indian or American pppl even Hispanics. Its just sad to see someone young as 14 getting kicked out of the house b/c they feel the way they feel.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're stuck with me as a friend B) Besides, I know from personal experience that gay men make good railfans :P:D (and no, I'm too old for you lol).

HIV has more to do with unsafe sex and needles and transfusions than anything else. Not skin tone, not family history, nothing. You are at risk as much as you are put at risk/put yourself at risk.

Also, sexual orientation does not make you more or less prone to things, aside from maybe discrimination and other stuff that's more related to sexuality & not you as a person. Say, someone might insult my girlfriend to try to get to me, but people do that all the time, straight gay bi whatever. However, when you target a minority such as homosexual people, it takes on a different tone because of the history of discrimination. If they attack your partner, well it may just be that they are attacking your sexual orientation and nothing else.

I have had many friends that were of all different sexual orientations, and many women in my life who were bi or mainly into women & just with me for... (another topic not meant for NYCTF :P) anyways, i've never met someone in my life that i didn't like because of something of who they are, because in honesty everyone is pretty much the same on the core, it's just the outer layers that are different & give folks individuality.

CurAke79 you are just a person to me, and your behavior (constructive vs destructive) means far more to me than who you fancy. :D

79 I heard you loud and clear brother, you’re right on track. Having the courage to come out and announce your sexual preference is a challenge for most gay people. In fact, it’s the very thing that has slowed them from progressing toward a more sociable gay community. The more things are hidden the harder it get …not only for gay people but also for those who are curious. The very people who applaud you on this forum may very well be gay or bisexual but none would dare to say it. Then again why should their, heterosexuals do not go around telling folks that their straight. It’s really about the circle if you’re part of that circle you’ll find out if not you have no business knowing. I have friends that I suspect that may be gay but unless they tell me, I would never come out and say that they are. In person I don’t tell people that I’m straight unless you ask me, I leave it up to your imagination. It’s more interesting that way. We must brake away from some old traditions, if you bark like a dog, smell like a dog, run like a dog you are not necessarily a dog. According to some gay guys, every good looking man is gay and they’ll find every excuse to classify them as such. This old tradition is lack in critical thinking, it forces you to classify people base on similar pattern. Except that those patterns are derivatives of different sources encoded with different information. I can have similar heating panels but the dip switches are program for different outcome. It is more about how people think than how their look because if it is for you to judge, you will only see what you want.

No one will judge you on this forum, I’m the outcast here. If they haven’t rejected me yet you shouldn’t have to worry yourself too much. You know what it is about me that piss some people off, I speak my mind. I’m like George Carlin on this forum, one of my favorite comedians who recently pass June, 22, 2008. They have never been any comedian who speaks his mind than this man. Well my friend it is what it is, who ever doesn’t like your sexual orientation can fu_k off, you don’t need those kind of negativity in your life anyway. I always tell people that I’m not prejudges nor I my races but I’m surly allergic to stupid people.

Just kidding you know I don't care about your sexuality, as I said, that's your business not mine, unless you cross the line...Then I will start throwing bombs and giving mean wedgies. j/k or am I? :D

Anyways I'm straight, but just like I don't care if girls are gay, I don't care if guys are gay, as long as they don't try nothing with me, I know I'm a walking masterpiece...but hold your horses! :P

As for that, don't worry, its cool with me :D

I always tell people that I’m not prejudges nor I my races but I’m surly allergic to stupid people.

Well thanks a lot Coolbreeze. I'm glad no one judged me....that's the part that got me nervous. One thing I like about this site is ppl on here, we have the few occasional a-holes on here. I know so many gay men and friends I have think all goodlooking men roaming the Earth is gay....I just say their "cute" and try to change the subject. Your right I don't need anyones negativity....I already beat myself up with negativity lol.

I can understand what you are saying, but what is crossing the line? If a gay man asks you out for the first time, hopefully you don't flip out right then and there. They don't know if you are or you aren't, unless you tell them youz ain't. Now if one persists after being told, then that is a different situation. I had stated before, I have been hit on 3 times in my lifetime. Why? Well the guys told me I was so handsome. (Scratching chin) I wonder if I should just go for a free meal, next time a guy asks me out. No touching of course. Just a meal then break his heart. Just tell him, I was in it for the meal, and I ain't that way......

I have mental issues, if you haven't noticed......
