mtattrain Posted July 7, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2013 I thought 10 were not overhauled... 9 of the cars were accident victims, one of which went to Randalls before being replaced by 1.5 R62s and R40A 4461. The other one car (385) was chosen to be scrapped instead, since it had the original braking system, and also since there were not enough R44s left. It says in my post that #227 went to Randalls for FDNY training
mtattrain Posted July 7, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 7, 2013 It says in my post that #227 went to Randalls for FDNY training But there are no recent pictures, and plus I doubt that Randalls would use 3.5 cars for training... 2.5 cars are enough. R10 2952 Posted July 7, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 7, 2013 The last of those pre-overhaul R44s was scrapped around 2001 after sitting a while at Bushwick Terminal I believe along with the last three work service BMT Q cars.
