Asian countries tend to have high automobile import taxes, so probably not (who in their right mind would pay import duties for a Dodge Caravan?) Favoring local industry and whatnot. It may very well be a duplicate, considering that early-stage automakers in developing countries tend to copy designs. Heck, Japan has a carmaker that essentially makes fake Rolls-Royces.
