Brighton Local Posted August 21, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 21, 2008 Now that is a RARITY!!! Nice Catch Man!! I remember back in 2003, I caught an R32 Train with its lower sign displaying: Broadway Local and in October of 2006, I caught an R32 that read on the bottom: Queens Blvd Express 8 Av Local You might've caught that set, or just another R32 out there had that style reading. '89 Liberty MCI Posted August 21, 2008 Share #3 Posted August 21, 2008 That's an amazing reading. Did you get the car number? Obviously an old rollsign because saying Avenue of the Americas Local/Express (or Avenue of the Americas-6th Avenue Local/Express) is the more old-fashioned way. Maybe the rollsign there is the one original to all R32 after overhaul and it didn't get replaced on this one. Maybe it's from an R27/30 even from years ago when the R27/30 was in service. Pablo M 201 Posted August 21, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 21, 2008 Yeah, IIRC that is the old reading. Its strange the MTA would read out 6th Avenue as "Avenue of the Americas."
MTR Admiralty Posted August 21, 2008 Share #5 Posted August 21, 2008 bit old fashioned i guess, with the "ave of americas" reading however, i wood say that the "queens express" reading is quite accurate. the doesnt run directly under queens blvd (as express) except in rego park and forest hill and there are portions under broadway as well. so for me, i wood stick to "queens express"
