Should the Q9 be extended to Aqueduct Casino?

Just a thought, the entire Q9 round trip is under an hour, route is REALLY short and really ends in the middle of nowhere (Rockaway & 133ST (someone correct me if i'm wrong)). However, what the TA should/could do is send the bus down rockaway into the casino as there is no direct link from Jamaica to the casino other then that shuttle cutaway service the Casino provides. Just a thought.

Only if the casino is willing to pay for it...

The last stop of the 9 is Lincoln and Rockaway. Me and other members have said the 9 ending at Rockaway is arbitrary. I proposed sending the 9 to 150 Av where the 37 ends. I guess the extension to the Casino isn't bad either. Negates a two fare trip to Jamaica.

I think AE Moreira proposed this a while back as well.... If not the Q9, I know it was some route he wanted to send inside there....

Anyway, I think sending that route to the airtrain station (lefferts) would benefit more people overall, than sending it inside the casino...

One thing I'll say is, if they were to ever send the Q9 inside the casino, they'd probably send the Q7 inside there also... To make it a more convenient xfer point or w/e (not solely for casino access itself)

Me and other members have said the 9 ending at Rockaway is arbitrary.

Yes... agreed...

Very.

I'd stick with lefferts Airtrain via conduit. Till other factors afterward allow further action.

Wouldn't it be the other way around (ResortsWorld having free buses defeats the point of the Q9 extension?)

No not really... That FREE service is courtesy of ResortsWorld and they are paying for that...

Q37 goes into ResortsWorld.. I'm sure they are paying for that too...

Now to add a 3rd bus which basically follows the same route as your FREE alternative makes NO sense... Therefore the Q9 really doesn't need to be extended there.... If you really wanna get some practical use out of the Q9... When it hits Rockaway Blvd you could run it to the A train and make it another alternative to what's already down at Rockaway Blvd Train station... It could help out the Q41 ( being another option from 165th).... help out the Q112 (easing the crunch on Liberty for those going to and from Rockaway Blvd station).... And Q7 ( being that it will still travel down Rockaway til 135th St)

Turn the Q9 into a helper Route

Casino has free shuttle bus running for Jamaica Station to Casino entrance.

If you looking at adding bus service to Resorts World, I suggest running the QM15 and Q11 bus through the Pitkin Gate under the

"A" train line to the stop in Resorts World. This would give tourist in midtown Manhattan one seat express service for $6 dollars and one seat service from Woodhaven Blvd and Crossbay Blvd.

Note: I know the Q11 has a stop at the north end of "A" train station North Conduit with and walk underpass to catch a free RW shuttle bus but I think running the Q11 inside RW would be more direct.

Another express bus QM18 runs down Lefferts Blvd. and could be redircted to end in Resorts World but this route only runs during rush hours. (Need to expand hours to like QM15 operation to attract tourist from Midtown Manhattan.)

While I do agree with this....there is SOME benefits of adding a Q9 alternative to the Casino, you'd be bringing in pax from other locations, not to mention the available connections. The shuttle mostly runs along Atlantic Avenue, the Q9 would serve a pretty decent purpose for the immediate areas it serves.

As for helping out the Q41.....that is actually true and this is coming from someone who takes the Q41 99.9% of the time because I've gotten fed up of the Q24. It wouldn't help the Q112 all that much or the Q7 for that matter, hell, the Q7 doesn't really need help as it is.

However, I was more for the idea of sending the Q9 down to 150th Avenue(in conjunction with the Q10 and Q37 and was pitched in the route planning meetings before the casino opened) than the casino itself. During those meetings, some folks tried to sneak an idea that would have a route from Jamaica to go to the Casino, some folks pitched for the Q9.

I wouldnt completely dismiss the idea of a Q9 to the Casino though....people have been bitching about the casino's shuttle service because despite what it says about its service, it's very infrequent.

The Q9 needs to be extended somewhere. That route is mad short for no reason. I would extended to the Rockaway Blvd (A) statioon.

That would be redundant to the already existing Q112 and the Q41, which already stops at Rockaway Blvd Station. The Q9 is a faster variant of the Q40 and has the same purpose as the Q40, to serve underlying areas with a lack of transportation options. Both the Q9 and Q40 are feeder routes.

I would first fix the QM15 timetable: Buses running about 10 minutes late during off peak hours. IMO the QM15 does fine, It would keep it as it is (I would find an off peak extention to Arverne better than send it to the Casino, but that's another story...).

I see you live in Middle Village. The Q54 needs to fix the 2-3-4 buses running together then no bus for 45 minutes. Same on Woodhaven

Blvd with the Q11, Q21, Q52 and Q53 not following the schedule and bunching in 2-3-4 then no buses for 20  minutes. These are problems that

need to be addressed by the dispatchers along the route and the people developing the schedules if they are doable in the real world traffic of

New York City.

I was talking above about adding options for people to have a one seat ride option to Resorts World. A lot of people have been taking the "A" train since the first day the RW's open in Oct. 2011. Only a month or so ago the Aqueduct Station (North bound station to Manhattan opened) and I have seen the platform full of people as the train arrives every 20 minutes or so.

I have lived in other cites with casinos and they provided more direct one seat bus options then here in New York's Resorts World

(Q37 is only direct MTA bus on the property ). All others (Q7, Q41, Q11, etc) run nearby on their original routes before Resorts World open about 2 years.

No. Why I say no is because there is already a casino-sponsored shuttle from the Jamaica LIRR station to Resorts NYC.

BTW, my plan was to extend the Q9 to 150 Avenue/130 Street and shift the Q9 to 130 Street south of Linden Boulevard to catch a bigger footprint. The route I wanted to extend was select B15 runs to provide a connection from Brooklyn.

I used to work at JFK international airport. I forgot the Brooklyn bound B15 bus line run on the north conduit road on the southern edge of Resort

World/Aqueduct . It would be an easily drive on and off the pickup returning people to Brooklyn.

The airport direction B15 could make a cut through the Pitkin Ave. gate for access to Resorts World.

Note: I wish there had been a bus stop at the North Conduit "A" station for another option for get to the "A" train easily without paying the

AirTrain's $5 fee at Howard beach.

I can only imagine the sob stories the operators would hear "Bro, I lost all my money in the slot machine. Can I get a ride?"

Close....there was one where this guy was like "I lost my unlimited at the black jack table".....

There should be a drop-off stop in a cutout at Cohancy Street, but this would only be for dropoffs. Likewise, there should be a pick-up only stop westbound.

On the Beeline route W20 and W21 lines back to the Bronx from Empire City Casino in yonkers, there used to be at least one or two gamblers claiming they

lost an unlimited metrocard or $52 dollars on a regular card. They are now gone because no one swiped them onto the buses.

Now only have the illegal cabs offering $2 rides back to woodlawn station "4" line in the Bronx.

As for the B15 stopping at the North Conduit "A" subway station, there are 4 same direction lanes of traffic under the subway bridge. Buses stop on 2 way single lane streets with no problem.
