Via Garibaldi 8 Posted October 7, 2013 Share #26 Posted October 7, 2013 I can only imagine the sob stories the operators would hear "Bro, I lost all my money in the slot machine. Can I get a ride?" lol... Some of them don't even have sob stories. They just walk on the bus and take a seat.
soyintocable Posted October 7, 2013 Share #27 Posted October 7, 2013 See the "walk on the bus and take a seat" attitude all over Queens. Just waiting for the Eagle Team take all of them off the bus with a $100 ticket like in Staten island and Manhattan.

Eastern Queens (east of the Van Wyck and north of Hillside) seems to be very good about it, but then the issue becomes that Metrocard swiping ends up slowing down operations. A particular hotspot for people begging for change on the bus (or downright harassing people) in Eastern Queens is Creedmore. For some reason riders from around that particular hospital lack Metrocards or exact change.

If you don't look on the residential side of Hillside av across the street from Creedmore, that entire area looks very depressing....

There aren't that many convenience stores on Hillside east of the Clearview that sell Metrocards, anyways. It's just that one very specific stop that has lots of people asking for change. B35 via Church Posted October 8, 2013 Share #32 Posted October 8, 2013 There is a deli across the street at Winchester... Thanks... You would know better than I would. Are these ppl. coming from Creedmore specifically?
bobtehpanda Posted October 8, 2013 Share #33 Posted October 8, 2013 Thanks... You would know better than I would. Are these ppl. coming from Creedmore specifically? I believe so - this is a phenomenon on both the Q46 and Q43 (though it's worse on the Q43, where the main entrance to Creedmore is located). I used to work there for summer youth.
Trainmaster5 Posted October 8, 2013 Share #35 Posted October 8, 2013 Just reading the last few posts about the hospital .One question though. Isn't it spelled " Creedmoor", not "Creedmore "? Or are we talking about two different places?

bobtehpanda Posted October 8, 2013 Share #37 Posted October 8, 2013 We're talking about Creedmoor Psychiatric Hospital. Huh. The LIB stop announcement signs (when they were on, which was rare) would announce Creedmore.
Q67 via Borden Posted October 14, 2013 Share #38 Posted October 14, 2013 In response to this topic..... While I do agree with extending the Q9 since it's current terminal at Lincoln/Rockaway is arbitrary like B35 via Church said, it should not go to Aqueduct. A better idea would be to extend it to JFK Airport Terminal 5 via the Q10's 130 Street branch routing. Also under this proposal, all Q10s would stay on Lefferts Boulevard south of Rockaway. It would serve more of South Ozone Park and give them access to Jamaica. A better idea to link Aqueduct to Jamaica is by a restored and modified Q89, however that is a separate discussion.
