G'day All.

Last Saturday made the trip down to Geelong for a day.

Down the road between Geelong and South Geelong is Kardina Park. An AFL stadium and parklands.

On the oval outside(Geelong Cricket ground) the Geelong seconds are taking on the St Kilda seconds.

As the bowler comes in VLocity 40 and 14 head back to Melbourne with train 8232.

The Platforms of Geelong station looking towards Melbourne. The platform numbering is rather different with it going right to left. In normal circumstances when looking towards Melbourne(or up) it would be left to right. It's also one of the few places that retains its 19th century train shed. The station building is from 1881.

The VR Era Station sign. Of note next to the sign is a button to call station staff. The reason for it's existence is because the only means of access to Platforms 2/3 is via the footbridge. To get passengers to the platform or main platform passengers are walked to the down end and via a pathway at the end of the platform are walked across. As to why it's not DDA accessible you ask. The entire station complex is heritage listed meaning major modifications can't be done.

Looking towards Warrnambool. The pathway before the signals is the way across. In the background is the former Geelong "B" box which controlled the down end of the station.

Arriving at 1400 is train 8236. The up lunchtime Warrnambool lead by N469 with a 4 car N set in tow. Of interest it's actually terminating and forming the Geelong - Warrnambool leg of 8215. In normal situations this train would of continued into Melbourne but due to a signalling issue in Melbourne it was terminating.

Despite only being 4 cars quite a few passengers were on board. Throw in the passengers who would board in Geelong it was quite a large crowd.

Arriving about half an hour late is 8215 with the Melbourne to Geelong leg of the train is VL47 and another VLocity. This train would then form the Geelong Melbourne leg of 8236. It was a 6 car train but 1147 was locked out of use due to a leaky toilet.
