"Bus operators are protected by New York state law, assaulting a bus operator is a felony". Only six months? I see on the side of the bus it says 7 years.

Does anyone honestly think six months is going to do the job?

What went wrong with the ruling here then? Thats where I am a bit out of the loop here. She nearly blinded the driver in the assault!

Six months? Thats it?

The justice system failed on this one, and why? Clearly to grant leniency either for age, gender, both, or other factors entirely.

Guess we all know who'd be responsible if she struck again....this child needs thorough rehabilitation and this sentence just doesn't do Justice. Here's hoping the Bus Operator is well enough that she can drive long term and give other (MTA) drivers notice that she is on the loose in 6 months

Btw, I read this story on NYCTF when it first came out and someone posted The girl's Facebook page on it.

She should have gotten way more time, especially when you take into account that she assaulted the driver while the bus was in drive. If The driver would have accidentally let her foot off the brake while the door valve was in the wrong position, the bus could have driven into the middle of traffic and more people than the bus driver would have been hurt. They really should have thrown the book at this girl and made an example of her...

Yes, they should have thrown the book at that psycho. Six months is nowhere near enough time for that nut job to comprehend the consequences of her brutal and thoughtless actions. What's worse is that it took 2 1/2 years for her to be sentenced for them. The victim, Marlene Bien-Aime (the bus driver) was denied justice. Just plain wrong and stupid on the part of the judge who pronounced this sentence.

2 1/2 years? That is pathetic...

Was "Ms Deranged" out on bail or incarcerated while awaiting her trial/sentencing? If she was locked up then at least she did do some time. 6 months ain't even a slap on the wrist...more like a nail manicure.

So she gets 6 months in jail, 5 years of probation and has to take an anger management class? All because the driver wouldn't let you on with a dog? Is every teenager gonna think this is the punishment they'll get for committing a crime?

I'm sure her mother cried to the judge about how her daughter is a wonderful angel and would never hurt a fly.

Our NYC jails, like many jails, are overcrowded so people tend to get smaller sentences and early releases.

Hopefully this will speed up those bus driver shields. Many of the buses don't have them yet. I've only seen 1 Orion OG hybrid from LGA that had the shield installed.

Yeah many kids commit crimes and are out in no time. I've heard about many kids who robbed, beat up, sold drug and had drugs, carried a weapon or gun and they were out in like 5 months or less. I remember hearing about this 16 boy who was in jail for a week for having a loaded gun.

Look at this heifer. She looks like she just woke up crawling from under a rock and she's damn proud of it too. Go yiff in hell.....

If I woke up next to her, I'd have to chew her arm off at the shoulder, just without having to wake the beast up.....
