FAIRFIELD, Conn. (PIX11) – A Metro-North worker has been accused of committing a lewd act on a woman aboard a train Tuesday morning.

The woman, who dozed off aboard the 7:35 a.m. train from Grand Central Terminal to New Haven, woke up to find bodily fluids on her after the man had completed the sex act, authorities said.

The suspect, 34-year-old Manny Ramos, allegedly fled from the train when she woke up and the woman, who alerted train crews,  followed him. The train was held at the Fairfield station and Ramos was apprehended on a nearby street soon after.

“It’s the last thing you’d expect to experience on a Metro-North train,” said one rider.

Ramos, who is from Brooklyn, had been working as a coach cleaner since October 2011 and was training to become an engineer. Metro-North says Ramos has no criminal record, based on a background check, and had no disciplinary problems at Metro-North.

Ramos was on his way to New Haven to take a written exam for his training, and was technically on duty.

He has been suspended without pay, and was to be arraigned in Bridgeport court Tuesday afternoon.  He posted a $1,000 bond Tuesday.

He has been charged with public indecency and breach of peace, both misdemeanors.

Well that is just disgusting. Still, this story sounds like it may have some holes in it. This guy was on his way to an exam, probably pretty nervous, and he just decides to, um, enjoy himself on a customer?? This guy either has some incredibly bad judgment, or overdosed on his Xanax today. I'd want to get more details on this.  Considering how deliberate Metro North is when it comes to hiring employees, from what I've read on this forum, this is pretty surprising.

The thing I question most is: how could this have happened on a 7:35 AM train on a weekday? NHL is the most crowded line of MNRR, esp. in rush hour, so I doubt he ever got alone time with her... some other people must ve been in that car with them.

This was a train to New Haven, and I assume that the trains from New Haven are the busy ones in the morning.

Lol it is possible. I've been the only passenger on express buses to Queens at 7:30 am.

I don't know if he had a mental breakdown or what . But something went wrong and he needs help. Career or no career this isn't the action of a sane person.

Express bus =! busy train route

It most certainly is possible.  The trains in the opposite direction can have very few people them.  I've been on plenty of LIRR trains going in the opposite direction where I was the only passenger in the car, and the Metro-North trains going in the opposite direction that I've seen on the Hudson Line are also light.  It's also true about the express buses... I've been the only passenger on the QM6 bus going to Queens.

Mental breakdown...?? Pff... Please... The guy was probably just horny and thought he could get away with it... It's 07:30 in the morning and he saw a young lady sleeping and thought he would get himself off, that's all. Nothing more nothing less. Smh

There's a difference between horny and sick. Thats sick.

This guy rubbed himself on a woman on a train...the boundary crossing there goes well beyond being "horny." It could be drugs or an underlying mental illness or clinically poor impulse control, but something is certainly wrong with him and it is better for everyone if he gets help along with whatever jail time he gets.

LOL... This was more than just rubbing... From what I've heard the rubbing thing occurs a lot on trains but this was much more than rubbing.  In fact I recall a campaign in the subway about it.

I can see what you are saying from a medical standpoint. Because in this case what the man did just completely escapes all logical reasoning. He had no criminal record, no disciplinary records, prior to this incident, nothing. Yes it could been something that led to the man falling into some sort of psychosis from a mental health condition, very likely.

That being said I'm glad his actions ended at an act of lewdness as he was apprehended by law enforcement officials, and not worse as in violent sexual assault. Regardless of what led up to the incident or the circumstances, this is truly disturbing to many and rightfully so. Inexcusable. He doesnt need to be aboard the MNRR as he just proved himself to be a threat to MTA customers, psychiatric disorder or not. The MTA along with law enforcement officials made the right move here, clearly.

There may be more to this story than the media is letting on.

Ok I hear you, as the media always report with preconcieved notions or by coming to erroneous conclusions. If I may ask then, in what way do you think the media may be biased in the way they are reporting this? Or in which way are they witholding facts pertaining to the incident?

I ridden a New Haven line train in the morning towards NH once and was the only one in the car for several stops after Stamford up to NH.

Harlem line has HEAVY reverse peak ridership between White Plains and the City.

I wouldn't be surprised if ridership is light reverse peak north of Stamford. I mean, what else north of Stamford would be a big reverse peak ridership draw?

Not saying it's preconceived notions or erroneous conclusion. Let's face it, these days everyone loves to hate Metro North. Top that off with the media's tendency of over sensationalism leaves me to believe there's more to the story.

Case in point: One of the NY papers had a picture of the engineer of the DV derailment last month on the front page with the head line "and he walks away" as he was looking at the injured. I heard from a reliable source that he was not just walking away looking at the injured as portrayed in that micro second of a picture but he was attempting to help. The journalist taking the picture could have written that as that what was likely witnessed but that doesn't make good headlines. It's the headline that led the public to preconceived notions.

This could likely be a similar situation. The media may have gotten addition information but giving additional details may have watered down the story.

Who knows, i could be wrong.
