BrooklynIRT Posted February 19, 2014 #1 Posted February 19, 2014 Does LIRR use a maximum load point on its train lines to determine service levels like NYCT does on its subway lines? If it does, where is the maximum load point in each direction on the weekend Hempstead and Far Rockaway branches (the trains that run from Atlantic Terminal to Hempstead and the trains that run from Atlantic Terminal to Far Rockaway)?
traingoat Posted March 22, 2014 #2 Posted March 22, 2014 Probably not. You have to go back to the deal made with the City when it took over the Rockaway branch from the LIRR in the 50's as to the terms of service and other things. You also have to keep in mind that basically nothing is open in Brooklyn to justify a train on weekends as the government buildings are closed on all levels plus schools and the list goes on.
