nostalgia Posted March 12, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2014 Metro-North Service NoticeAll Metro-North Railroad service into and out of Grand Central Terminal is suspended indefinitely due to a building explosion and collapse adjacent to the tracks at 116th Street and Park Avenue. Southbound trains are being held at stations to await further instructions. Northbound trains are being held in Grand Central. If not, then from a purely transportation oriented point of view (obviously the building collapse itself is very tragic and of a different caliber), this is another commuter disaster for Metro-North. No, they're turning trains in the Bronx (Woodlawn or Wakefield for the Harlem and New Haven Lines and E 153rd Street for the Hudson Line. Concerning the fallout from this, it is what it is. All southbound trains will also stop at Marble Hill, where customers may transfer to #1 train at 225 St-Marble Hill. Outbound: Customers take #4 train from GCT to 161 St-Yankee Stadium to transfer to local and express trains. All outbound trains will also stop at Marble Hill. HARLEM LINE:Inbound: Inbound trains from Southeast will terminate at Wakefield, customers transfer to #2 train at 241 St-Wakefield to #5 train (if desired) at E180 St. Inbound trains from North White Plains discharge at Woodlawn to #2 train at 233 St (to #5 train at E180 St if desired). Trains from North White Plains will continue south and make scheduled Bronx stops as far as Fordham or Melrose, as indicated by schedule. Outbound: Customers take #5 train from to E180 St; transfer to #2 train to 233 St. Customers take local Harlem Line North White Plains trains at Woodlawn station. Harlem Line express trains to Southeast/Wassaic will originate at Mount Vernon West, where customers may transfer from the local. Outbound North White Plains local trains will also make all Bronx stops from Melrose through Woodlawn. NEW HAVEN LINE:Inbound: Inbound trains from New Haven and Stamford will discharge customers at Woodlawn for the #2 train at 233 St to #5 train (if desired) at E180 St. Inbound Stamford locals will continue to Fordham for local customers. Outbound: Customers take #5 train from to E180 St; transfer to #2 train to 233 St. Customers take local New Haven Line Stamford trains at Woodlawn station. New Haven Line express trains to New Haven will originate at New Rochelle, where customers may transfer from the local. Outbound Stamford local trains will also make a stop at Fordham. Never blamed them for anything, I actually feel sorry for them because this does have a chance to hurt their already recently tarnished reputation. I can't really understand how it would. The general ugly standard for New Yorkers getting annoyed about delays is "somebody better be dead." Two people were killed; nobody's going to be complaining. I guess that equipment that was trapped during the service suspension will have to be moved during the night to their home terminal for tomorrow's rush hour.
