There are some R142/As where the conductor is at the 5th car, ive seen one on a (2) yesterday at East 180th Street, as for the R188, Im going to guess it has something to do with the C car in the 6 set considering the 5 car set is most likely converted R142As and that could be the norm

Because that would require the 6th car having two operating cabs on both sides. Such a car would have to be a single. NYCT after the 62s are gone will be done with singles.

Times Square bound the 5 car is the operating cab for the C/R and Main Street bound it's the 6th car just as it is now with the 62As.

Correct me if I am wrong, but being an avid (7) rider for many years. When the R62As came, I believe they reworked the C/R boards for the 5th car, so I am guessing they will probably have to extend them again for the R188s when the 6th car is used again. Although, I guess in the grand scheme of things, it is a minor issue? I always just assumed being on the board is very crucial in operation.

The boards were never moved. All they did was put the 5 car sets on the south end.

Ah ok, it seemed like they moved a little bit lol, or the board is just very short. I know the boards at the 6th car board with the yellow and red got removed years ago when the Redbirds disappeared off the line.

Anyways, rode the R188 today, probably my 8th time now. Had an issue today as it did on the 5th day in operation, the Thursday of the first week, which the door on the left side Manhattan bound on 7819 got stuck again with the light staying on while it was closed. But as like last time, right as one of the supervisors I am guessing on the ends of the car, say pull it out of service, it closes itself properly with the light going off. The R188 is mad slick lol. Just an interesting experience on the ride. I hope the new metal type smell goes away at some point on those trains, it is still there faintly and it is just weird to smell it throughout the whole ride.

I heard it failed twice before but that's not confirmed. I'm now thinking it could be since it's still going out on it's own schedule. I saw it on the <7> this morning at 7 am.

I wonder why they put a cab on the middle car as that cab is never used. It also brings me to the question, what if they turn the train around and the 6 and 5-car sets are on the wrong end (so that there is no cab where the board is)? Doesn't that mean they can't run the train?

It ends this sunday and yep if it passes then in January each week a new set will enter service on the  (7) . I just want to know if Westchester Yard will go back to Yellow Yard stickers or if Purple will represent the R62As on the  (6) now, Considering that all  (7) strip maps are off of all 5 sets of R62As on the  (6) and ,when a set gets swapped back it will get its strip maps taken out before re entering service on the  (6) .

They no longer use the stickers for yards. Note how the R62 still have stickers for the (4). Blue represents the (3) , Orange represents the (4) .

Also, 1795 has a missing sticker, but I don't think they're taking them off.

Excellent list. Regarding the (1) R62s, do you know which ones are there right now? 1406-1410 are off, sitting at 207th at the moment.

Correct me if there are any errors.

1901-1926 were moved to the (3) due to 1909 being in that derailment at hunts pt in 1996
