I rode the R188 twice myself yesterday (7811-7821). The train seemed to be having problems going Queens bound around 9:30 PM. At GCT and 46 St, right as the train was about to start moving it went BIE. The train started moving again right after, and the IC beep kept going off in the cabs between every other stop.

I hear there are now 4 sets of R62A on the (6) , even though I only have 35 cars listed. 1706-1710 is still on the (7) , I saw it twice yesterday. I hear the 5th set includes 2016-2020, but they're converting 2016 to a full cab (2020 already has one).

Sounds like a major issue that only Kawasaki can really fix for a mechanical problem on 7811-21 to persist like this or else the one of the two maintainance complexes in the system (or specialists on site at Corona Yard) would have fixed it by now. Lets hope it goes well with 7822-7832 which I haven't been on yet.

As far as the R62A's on the (6) the last time I was out there on the Pelham Bay Line that photog mission (12/24 and yes it was really cold out there!) I only saw three of the four sets. Might be just my bad timing however, my mistake was that I should have scoped out Westchester Yard to see what is actually going on with the R62A set unaccounted for that day.

I rode on R188 train, 7822-7832 today and everything ran well except the return from Times Square.  The motorman proceeded out of TS with the Last Stop sign blinking and strip map unlit.  Shortly, before entering GC, it activated with the announcement "The Next Stop is "5th Avenue".  By Hunters Point, everything was synchronized.

I was on the same train! I was in 7822! He started skipping through announcements between GC and Vernon Blvd. It was at 3:30.

I just missed the R188 today, mostly because I was riding with some cousins and they were in a rush. I have a really good tip to catch the R188 - ONLY AT TERMINAL STATIONS!

First, you have to see the R188 in order to estimate the time. I saw it at 103rd Street today while heading to Manhattan on the (7).

I estimated the time it would arrive at Flushing, which was around 4:00 PM.

One trip on the (7) local would take 40 minutes, so it would arive at TSQ at 4:40.

I would go around 7:00 PM, and I estimated it would be at TSQ at 7:20.

I always estimate a little early to arrive there and wait. Since we were in a rush, we just took the R62A that was there.

At approximately 7:22 PM, I assume (by the looks of the train) that the R188 was approaching Bryant Park and was heading to TSQ.

During the 30 day test of 7811-7821, I used this method time and got the train in time. Really good method if you are really wanting to hunt that R188!

On another note, 7811-7821 was sitting in Corona Yard  today as I passed by. Don't think it would be in service any time soon, unless maybe 7822-7832 has a problem and they are short and have to run that set.

I was in the first car, which I believe was 7832?, I think, because I saw the motorman quickly walk in the train, open the cab and hang up his jacket, close his door, shut the doors and off we went.

It's funny the reaction of some people, who get on and are used to the ordinary R62A, and are surprised by a shiny new train and which smells new.  Most passengers don't care, as they'd rather not be on the subway or just get wherever they're going.   Then you compare them to the R142's on the Lex., which have become dirty.  Tunnel dust and just grime from passengers.

it seem like it not added to avoid money on 34 street stop

I noticed the diagonal black covering the 34th Street info.  It's visible with all the bright light

I think the first conversion set is the next to roll out. The 7211-7220 ,with 7899. A dispatcher told that there getting ready to send that set out, however others have told me that there having problems with all the conversion sets.
