I took a ride today R62A on (6)... The R62A on (6) did not had A/C ( air condition ) & the air conditioner  R62A on (6) was not working well. So why put R62A service on (6) today.. When A/C was not working.. It was like I was in the beach in R62A lol .. I know you will blame Westchester Yard for R62A that the air condition was not working well.

A/C issues happen every now and then on every car , its not Westchester's problem , believe it or not they maintain them very well , just switch cars at the next station...

It's easy to say that the (7) is the best since it doesn't have to share trackage with any other line. Same goes for the (6).and (L) which has good service overall.

That's not necessarily true. The (7) connects to the (N) @ Queensboro, (L) connects to the (J) and (M) and the (6) connects to the rest of the Lexington Line (4)(5) . But yeah the (7) and (L) doesn't share with any other line.

@Gordon: <_< (Monster)

And it should be at Corona as I have passed by CIY and there is not a single R188 there. All good

I would sure hope it was not at CIY. CIY has the bed bug infested R160s.

Well it doesn't share track service wise,The queensboro diamond crossover is there to take subway car off the flushing line if the R62's needs major work they go to the coney island overhaul shop via B division trackage, queensboro junction hasn't been used for service since the duel BMT-IRT days of the 40's. however the junction in 125th is used for the  (4) to make local stops on the Lexington line at late nights.

So? It's the R160's that are infected with chinches (bed BUGS), not Coney Island Yard or the stations. And if it were extreme, there would be NO difference as Queensboro Plz is across the (7) ! The R188 are new and they aren't in service along the Sea Beach so the bed bug prob is out of the convo, fo sho.

True..... Them BMT-IRT Crossover isn't used but they switch during R188 deliveries too.

1908 was on the move today.

It was sandwiched in between two Redbird couples.

That was sent to Ditmars right behind the R68 (N) .

Speaking of which, anyone know what they plan to do with this set? They can't make a set since 1909 is no more, are they gonna move these to the Times Square Shuttle, or convert them for work service, or what?

Cough... R188 conversion are not new that #7211 - #7590.. A rebuilt R142A converted to R188..... Only new car is R188 #7811 - #7936 ( 126 cars ). I say R62A #1908 should be used as work equipment cars.. As you right R62A #1909 have been scrapped.. At least R62A #1908 can replace a R33 World Fair car single.. Time Square Shuttle anyway should not be short of cars ...

Simple... take some of the cars from the shuttle and move them to the main line and replace them with 1906-1910 minus 1909.

It's fine. Saw 7251-7260 with 7903 testing at 5th Avenue Bryant Park. These converts look much better than 7231-7250. Those two 11 car sets (not including C Cars) look horrible compared to 7251-60.

There's more R62A out on the (7) rather than R188! What's going on with the <7> today?

Today, I saw 7221-30, 7241-51, 7252-60 (testing), 7822-32, 7844-54, 7877-87 and 7888-98. Yes, thats only 7 sets (6 in service) and may be less R188s than 62As but thats still a lot of 188s running. I've seen a day where there were no R188s running (and the set up to 7876 was running). Like JDog14 and ttcsubwayfan said, the fleet is still mostly R62A and it all depends on what dispatch sends out.

Nonetheless, there will still be more R62A than R188 unless on a weekend or during the night....... The R188 fleet is only a bit more than 10 sets right now....... even if they run all of them (which they probably won't) the R62A will still most likely be the majority, especially during rush hour. Even during rush hour, on Monday, the only R188's I recalled seeing were... 7811-7821, 7822-7832, 7221-7230, 7231-7240, 7241-7250. Do not really recall seeing any more, maybe one extra set I didn't notice..... so yeah R62A is majority and will main majority for some time.

Thats almost the pattern I saw last weekend. It seemed only 4 maybe 5 sets were running at midday even though there was no weekend GO.
