RestrictOnTheHanger Posted March 13, 2015 Share #5030 Posted March 13, 2015 Just got on a 188 set. The interior sign on car 7347 says To Main St and announces it in Manhattan as a Queens bound 7 *express train* instead of just a 7 train. Is this a softwate update or an old program? Hopefully they put this on all the 188s

That's likely not going to happen. Unlike the stations from 74 Street eastward, the secondary names for 33 Street through 69 Street don't really exist on a map. They obviously exist in address books and some Queens-centric maps, but you can't find them on Google maps or the like. Just got on a 188 set. It's likely an update to the current program unless the stations announced included 45 Road-Court House Sq and Willets Point-Shea Stadium.
Javier Posted March 14, 2015 Share #5033 Posted March 14, 2015 Speaking of R188's why does Kawasaki forget to fix the Exterior LED Glitches on the train?
Woodside7878 Posted March 14, 2015 Share #5034 Posted March 14, 2015 (edited) Well, when the first R188 set 7811-7821 was in service as an express train, the conductor notice why the interior signs was not showing the express sign but the people in charge of the train said that there was a glitch in the software and soon will be fix. Well then it took long to fix a 3-8 minute software change, especially when the 7 train fleet is near becoming all R188 line. Not sure about Mets though.
Fresh Pond Posted March 14, 2015 Share #5036 Posted March 14, 2015 Speaking of R188's why does Kawasaki forget to fix the Exterior LED Glitches on the train? You mean the busted signs? That's not their problem, all they are doing is installing the CBTC kits in the cars...everything else is on the MTA itself
Calvin Posted March 14, 2015 Share #5037 Posted March 14, 2015 Can the R188 conversion car couple to another number? Ex. 7321-7325 couple with 7296-7300 with 7907

VIP Posted March 14, 2015 Share #5039 Posted March 14, 2015 Is there a reason why the R62A's transfers from the aren't paired together on the ? For example; 2306-2310/2221-2225
Woodside7878 Posted March 14, 2015 Share #5040 Posted March 14, 2015 I wonder why the MTA didn't upgrade the exterior signs to LED instead of LCD when they order 88 new cars, LCD isn't very bright and get messed up when not maintain (6 train fleet)

Javier Posted March 15, 2015 Share #5045 Posted March 15, 2015 Yes, I'm talking about those type of glitches where yellow spots or something else would appear on the screen. And I swear to myself I saw a R188 today that had its sign completely messed up.
Union Tpke Posted March 15, 2015 Share #5046 Posted March 15, 2015 Posted by G1Ravage on Sat Mar 14 22:44:09 2015, in response to R188 Observations (2015/03/13), posted by R36 #9346 on Fri Mar 13 22:44:40 2015. Based on observations I'm hearing, an update is rolling out to the R-188 sets. Most likely this update adds Hudson Yards - 34 Street as a destination in the AAS, and also has a few visual tweaks. Queens-bound expresses are now announced as such in Manhattan, and the interior signs finally show the appropriate where applicable. The station names are also displayed differently, such as "74 ST-BROADWAY" instead of just "74 ST". Re: R188 Observations (2015/03/13) Posted by gbs on Sat Mar 14 23:37:48 2015, in response to Re: R188 Observations (2015/03/13), posted by G1Ravage on Sat Mar 14 22:44:09 2015. Finally! What about the interior sign for Flushing-Main St, which currently says only "Flushing", for both "To Flushing" and "This is Flushing"? sted by R36 #9346 on Sat Mar 14 23:52:33 2015, in response to Re: R188 Observations (2015/03/13), posted by gbs on Sat Mar 14 23:37:48 2015. Given that the 7350 set shows "Main St" instead of "Flushing-Main St," I suppose that has changed too.
