A railfan saying the NTT RFW is better than the view on the R32s?

There's a handhold next to it on the NTT's so that a plus too...

Why is the view disoriented on the NTT's anyway?

They use multi-plain glass.Simple physics. Light waves diffuse when traveling between multiple surfaces...

A railfan saying the NTT RFW is better than the view on the R32s? That's a first. The poor RFW view is the main reason a lot of railfans seem to dislike the NTT in the first place

To me, the view on the older cars is better as you can see every little detail right in of the train... which is not noticeable on the NTT cause the view is so distorted.

Yeah. Even the R62/62As, you can see a clear view of the front window, despite them having full-width cabs. The NTTs and the R44/46s, however, the view is quite blurry. Can you believe Around the Horn?

 Still disagree with you, but at the end, each to their own.

No I mean why does the MTA do it

For full-width cabs.

There is a plastic covering over the window on the door to the cab - perhaps this is why. Or the windows are just really thick, which is why the light diffuses more as it travels through the window.

I can't stand the R46 windows, so I agree with you on that...

I always held on to the Storm door handle when I looked out the RFW on the SMEE cars, at the first stop the T/O usually yanked on it to make sure its locked before going into the cab to charge up.

Its funny you mentioned wind blowing on you at the RFW on SMEE cars, reminds me of riding a 32 (E) On the QBL express back then and some weird black substance got sprayed on my hand while holding the storm door handle  <_<

Brought over from the R179 thread

I don't think that would be necessary It would be locked before anyone gets to post.

Since it keeps coming up, let me make a clarification. While the primary purpose of this thread is to discuss the incoming R188 cars, since the movement of the R62A cars are directly related, discussion of their appearance on other lines is permitted. There's no need for different threads for the same subject.

Correction my friend, I saw that set still on the (1) earlier this evening.

Scratch that, got 2200 mistaken with 2220 lol.

If thats the case why does wetchester keep taking sets from 240th yard... I know about the fleet shortage but damn, Ive seen enough R62As on the (6) to cover all that. Just adds more to the already shuffled/scrambled R62A car fleet. Might as well send the rest of the (1) R62As lol.
