RollOver Posted December 8, 2012 Share #1551 Posted December 8, 2012 (edited) A matter of fact, any type of train on a line will show up on the countdown clocks. Laugh out loud. Edited December 8, 2012 by RollOverMyHead

Princelex Posted December 8, 2012 Share #1554 Posted December 8, 2012 Just curious, will there exist any chance of me photographing a 62A train in October 2013? Should be pretty cool to ride a 62A through City Hall though. It's going to be a few years before the 62A's are done with the . The 62A's will be on the when the extension to 34th St opens.
borednyorker157 Posted December 8, 2012 Share #1555 Posted December 8, 2012 I saw a R188 testing at Morris Park on the Dyre Ave line on Monday around 3:30. Will post up the pic soon im new here
ttcsubwayfan Posted December 8, 2012 Share #1556 Posted December 8, 2012 Yes, there will be a chance. It's unlikely that ALL of the 188's will be delivered by October. It's going to be a few years before the 62A's are done with the . The 62A's will be on the when the extension to 34th St opens. Very glad to know this. Thanks guys
LTA1992 Posted December 8, 2012 Share #1557 Posted December 8, 2012 So since they are beginning to test them on Dyre, I take it the first 3 R188s are on property?
Snowblock Posted December 9, 2012 Share #1558 Posted December 9, 2012 Nope, the crew is just running up and down the tracks yelling wheeeeeee I'm a 188!!!!!!"
Subwayfan12 Posted December 9, 2012 Share #1559 Posted December 9, 2012 Does this testing mean that there will be r188's in service on the other IRT lines except the in case of fleet shortage and what not?
Subwayfan12 Posted December 9, 2012 Share #1560 Posted December 9, 2012 ok let's see how customers react I would love to see their priceless reactions I need popcorn I don't use the so I don't care. However I would like to know are the R62A's compatible with countdown clocks or all fleet trains can do it? What is the weakness of these old trains anyway vs R188/R142A ect? The difference: New technology.

Art Vandelay Posted December 9, 2012 Share #1562 Posted December 9, 2012 No. R188 = 7 only.

No - testing is different from revenue service. The WPR and Dyre corridor is less busy than the , so they test there. Threxx Posted December 9, 2012 Share #1566 Posted December 9, 2012 (edited) The difference: New technology. ENOUGH with this debate... Also, a random question, will the rollsigns on the 62A's just read "Special" for the extension, or does the MTA plan to replace the rollsigns? Art Vandelay Posted December 9, 2012 Share #1568 Posted December 9, 2012 My guess on the signage front- Paste on readings at the end of the sign.
Guest Lance Posted December 9, 2012 Share #1569 Posted December 9, 2012 They could easily cover the "34 St-Penn Station" reading on the south roll to something like "34 St-Manhattan".
Train Fan Posted December 10, 2012 Share #1570 Posted December 10, 2012 Why doesn't Westchester Yard take better care of their trains? I was riding a train home the other day and there were 6 burnt out bulbs just in one car. That's something you never see on other lines.
Train Fan Posted December 10, 2012 Share #1571 Posted December 10, 2012 I highly doubt crews are going to start changing all 20 signs on the 62s from Parkchester to Pelham every day. When was the last time a terminating at WIllets Point had signs that listed Willets Point as the northenr temrinal? Not once have I ever seen it.
Snowblock Posted December 10, 2012 Share #1572 Posted December 10, 2012 A bit early to be wondering these things, don't you think? Maybe they'll do like on the and just hang paper signs in the windows?
