I told y’all not to buy into the rumors. Amazing how some who do not work for transit has the most to say about car equipment/placement.

ENY only has ONE Train Left and that might go after tonight, Its common sense that when you have more than enough Tech trains, they wouldn't need those R42's anymore. no one has to work for transit to realize that. the ONLY reason why the R42's were still at ENY after the R160's came back from the (C) was because of R179 issues and R160's getting SMS. Now that more R179's became more reliable and R160 SMS (ENY units) is likely done, They don't need the R42's anymore.  now its up in the Air on what they're going to do with them, some say the (A) is getting them, some say long term storage-retirement. i'll just wait and see at this point.

OK new subject.

First pair of 40 Phase I R-32 pairs being retired as well.  It was 3454/55 sometime first week of December.  It has been stripped as will the rest of the MK R-42's.  Bye bye to Jersey this spring!

Your 3878/79 also now officially retired as well.  Previously stripped out as previously noted.

That's it so far.  Many more coming O/S January and February (maybe March?) as well.  Keep them eyes open!!!

8 MK R-42's for Work Service to Coney Island and 8 others for 207 Street.

Actually, he said pairs not cars.

This would bring the R32 total down to 142 from 222. (80 cars retired). Wonder how the spare factor will be affected. Seems like there will be less R32 (A) trains now. Interesting!

There have always been less R32s on the (A) even before the R179s showed up...

They only use a total of 4-5 sets, most of them are used during the rush

Yea that was my mistake, yea it was said that 80 cars would be getting scrapped.

I still think the (A) will still use some R32's.

There's an R42 in (Z) service right now

Yeah, that train was one of the six (Z) PM Peak put-ins southbound at Bway Jct. it departed Broad St at 5:25 p.m. heading north. Should be at Jamaica Ctr by 6:15 or so. I’m convinced it got removed from service afterwards and sent back to the yard or sent to the back at Jamaica Ctr.

There are also six cars of R42s sitting at ENY as well btw.

One of those 42 pairs at ENY is tagged with graffiti, saw it earlier in the day.

Here's what's showing for the 40 Out Of Service MK R-42s.

East New York:  4788/89, 4792/93, 4796/97, 4804-07, 4810/11, 4814/15, 4822/23, 4832/33, 4836/37 (20).

Pitkin:  4826-39 (4).

Work Service Coney Island:  4794/95, 4802/03, 4808/09, 4838/39 (8).

Work Service 207 Street:  4800/01, 4812/13, 4820/21, 4834/35 (8).

I bet that side sash on 4815 is STILL broken open.

Been open at least since the Myrtle Shuttle a couple of years ago.

Evidently it is never to be ever closed again for the ever...

Sigh. Now I regret not getting an RFW back from Jamaica to Manhattan sooner...oh well I guess...I just hope those 20 cars are still at ENY.

What time does the R42 PM Z leave broad st. Is there a definite time frame on monday or no because im trying to record the last one before it's gone

It’s one of these six intervals leaving Broad St:

4:55PM

5:05PM

5:15PM

5:25PM

5:35PM

5:45PM

Just be at Broad St a few minutes before 4:55PM when skip-stop service actually starts, wait at the [8] car marker so that you’re the first in line for the RFW. Keep in mind they might also be on the (J) intervals leaving Broad St at any given time between 4:50PM and 5:50PM.
