If your local station is outdoors, you really waited 35 minutes in 8 degree wind-chill weather JUST to ride a 160? That is insanity guy, I hope your trolling lol.

My station is outdoors yes.

Uh no. This line had R160s since 2006-2007, so it’s like a fixture.

R46s were fixtures on the (N) too you know...

So you really waited a half hour for a train that doesn't have window seats?

You sure you from NYC? I would've ran for those seats man, comfortable or not, those seats are great.

In all seriousness, why would you wait in the cold if you aren't fanning or getting pictures for a train? Granted, the (N) probably took 35 minutes to show up anyway, but still, its not needed. You must have a body heater cause I would've never done that in my life.

What about the (Q) would it still use some R160, R46 and R68/R68A?

The (Q) will eventually be all R68/A’s with 2 R46 put ins. There’s a memo about it for us crews.

He's in Astoria if I recall correctly, so that means he passed on both (N) and (W) trains for 35 minutes... ridiculous

So does this mean that there are no R46s left on the F and R trains and no R160s on the N and W trains? I hope not because I'd like to take one last ride on the R46 F on the Culver Line...

There are still about 15 R160s on the (N) and there should still be R46s on the (F) to make this asinine swap easier. There are at least 5 R160s on the (R) already. I think new R160s sent to Jamaica enter service on the (F) and ones currently in Jamaica just get assigned to the (R). The reverse likely happens when R46s go to Coney Island. Cars swapped travel thru the (G) line

actually yesterday in the AM there were 5 R46s/R68s before the R160, but in the afternoon I Only waited 2 minutes (luckily). But today in the PM around 6PM, the wait was 20 minutes (but I was at an underground station)

The (R) has a shit ton of 46’s still and car equipment still assigns R46’s on the (F) during the day. The (R) had 6 sets of R160’s today. The (N) still has their new tech trains, just not as many.

Just saw a NIS R46 heading CI-bound on Broadway, idk if it’s a transfer or not but two of the car numbers are 5540/5541

It is a Swap due to a Testing for the QBL CBTC, They might Re-Swap it back when R211s are on Service or Testing on QBL CBTC Fails.

Thanks for the update. Still seems like the (Q) is all R160s and only the Alstom propulsion R160s are going to Jamaica. Maybe more testing needs to be done on the Siemens test set

Also, this evening on the (N)(W) as I was going up to Astoria, there were 7 R160s between Queensboro Plaza and Astoria-Ditmars Blvd back to back to back.... to back. Seemed like 2017 all over again. Shame the chain was broken when I got to Ditmars Blvd, as there was an R46 (N) pulling in as I went down the stairs

spotted an R42 set (4813 as the lead car) deadheading to Fresh Pond Yard most likely for storage this morning.

the set is currently spilt into two four-car sets. both sets are sitting in fresh pond atm.

so that leaves about four sets of R42s active on the (J) (Z) .

The "hot wire" tells us that all the R-42s went nappy nap this afternoon--again!

Er, that appears to mean the the R-179s have concurrently been returned to revenue at least 3050-3149 group on the (J)(Z).

So you must assume therefore that all 870 R-160s based at Jamaica are now CBTC operational.

and likewise (already reported this in the nyc subway car listing thread)...

4794-95, 4838-39, 4802-03, 4788-89: ENY to Pitkin.

4788-89 was allegedly reported as retired before but ran a (Z) skip stop trip in the AM rush.

Currently theres one set in 207 for storage and another set in fresh pond for the same reason alongside the one i mentioned above. that leaves about two sets of R42s left based out of ENY, because it was reported that at least one of them is sitting in the layup at Jamaica Center.
