What's the deal with that set that was involved in an accident or something when it was doing the (M) shuttle?

As the days go on since the R179s resumed service it looks like there haven't been more than a single R-32 train on (A).  Others maybe in reserve.  Is anyone finding them?

saw one this morning

Thank you.  It looks like to be a habit of one or zero each rush hour now.  Definitely reduced in number since the R-179s returned.

There’s less R32’s in service on the (A) because of inspections/ Maintenance. Also they’ve retired about 16 cars recently. Also note, they ran excessively when the R179’s were Taken OOS. The R32’s were breaking down left and right at higher rates recently. (Mainly door problems).  So to maintain reliability in (A) train service, they’re using the R46’s much more while the R179’s start re entering service again.

OK, so what you're meaning is 8683-87 and 8708-12 were moved to Jamaica on January 31?

That would leave just 10 at Coney Island, then we'd move on to the original Kawasaki-Alstom R-160Bs (8713-8837).  Those were the very first R-160s used on the (N) and (Q) back in early 2007.  Hard to believe they are on the road for 13 years already...

In yesterday's observation, there's at least 380 = 38 R160B trains left at C.I Yard plus 1 R160A-2 full set

* The (Q) currently has 22 R160Bs in-use (but that will change soon)

*Astoria (N)(W) : However, there is a mixture of trains: only 12 R160Bs (10 are on the (N) while 2 are on the (W) . 16 trains are R46s (10 are on the (N) , with 6 on the (W) . And lastly, the R68/As, in counting, 4 are on the (N) with 2 on the (W) . Alot of mixture from yesterday's PM rush observation on the Astoria line.

- Majority of CI's 160s are  Siemens propulsion

So how many of those R160 cars at Coney Island are Alstom?

I remember hearing that Coney Island will keep about 130 R160’s?

Only 50 R160s in 5-car sets won't be used at Jamaica, unless plans change with the arrival of the R211s, which could potentially displace some R160s from Jamaica, perhaps the Siemens sets, elsewhere.
