Just like how it should have been from the very beginning anyway, besides the R160 phase-in in the late 2000s and the Montague Street Tunnel Closure (August 2013-Spetmber 2014). But if only the had ordered a few more R160s before they realized it was too late and eventually realized the mainline R44s needed to be retired.

I don’t mind the 46 equipment, but it’s nice to get a break on a tech train and they’re so much more comfortable. Calvin Posted February 20, 2020 Share #5831 Posted February 20, 2020 (edited) Mainly, all B Division lines have a lettered nickname from previous examples like ancy, elta, unicy, omeo arrys hiskey. IRT lines just represent numbers (#) (1-7) except the 42 St is the 0. Edited February 20, 2020 by Calvin 0 = zero

Stupid question, forgive me lol. but Is there a specific reason they want the Alstoms at Jamaica first as opposed to the Siemens? Is it because most of the CBTC Retrofits were done on the Alstoms first?

Is it because most of the CBTC Retrofits were done on the Alstoms first? My guess is because shop forces at Jamaica are more familiar with the Alstoms. Prior to the big fleet switch, all of Jamaica’s R160s had the Alstom propulsion. From what I’ve been reading, it would appear Jamaica will need more than just the Alstom R160s at CI, so some Siemens cars will eventually head to Queens. Also, CI may have sent just that one train up there to familiarize the shop forces and the train crews with the Siemens R160s before they send more. Iron Valiant Posted February 22, 2020 Share #5843 Posted February 22, 2020 Was there any R46s on the or R32s on the today? While on (an R46) this morning, I only saw the using R179s and R32s and the using R179s and R46s. Then again, I was only on board for a couple of stops.

Mysterious2train Posted February 22, 2020 Share #5847 Posted February 22, 2020 (edited) I was interested in the discussion in the Random Thoughts thread on on-time performance in the wake of the R46/R160 swap, so I went through the board materials and crudely pasted together weekday OTP info for all of 2019. OTP for the fluctuated all last year. In particular there was a noticeable jump in August once the returned to using the express tracks between 36 St and 59 St in Brooklyn (Several other lines also saw improved performance in August). service to Coney Island ended on October 21 but it's hard to say what impact, if any, that had on OTP. There were also other events last year like signals being retimed, speed limits being raised on certain areas of track, and schedule changes (which might include runtime changes). The R46/R160 swap started early in December and we do see OTP drop on the and and rise on the and from December to January. But of course there are so many factors affecting performance and OTP is changing every month so I wouldn't blame the swap just yet. It'll be interesting to see the numbers for this month when they come out. Edited February 22, 2020 by Mysterious2train

R46s break down all the time and because of that the and are suffering so now I gotta pay extra to get an Uber so I don't have to suffer the consequences of the swap. [/s] You do bring a good point about signals and retiming of certain sections of lines tho. Jemorie Posted February 22, 2020 Share #5849 Posted February 22, 2020 @Mysterious2train and @MysteriousBtrain, another thing to note is running times. The last time I've checked the official timetables, they were extended at selected times during off-peak hours. Hence why these trains are more "on-time". I'll probably review all lines' official timetables sometime later on or so to see if I'm not mistaken.
