The F runs at 4-5 minute rush hour headway.  With the small percentage of current ridership, they do not need service that frequent and get the work done with little interruption.

While that is true now, the work at Kings Hwy is said to be taking place for months, possibly into the Fall. Ridership may be up at that point where full service will be needed.

This is the list seen a couple pages back on this thread. I just added the numbers that users has since reported were at Pitkin. They are temporarily Pitkin R160s while Jamaica or CI is where they will eventually return to.

But you can't assume all of them are available for A service because, no doubt, some have went back to Jamaica Yard for inspections while others took their place..

Then they'll deal with it, if needed. We have almost 3 months till Labor Day after which a semi-normal world could come back. So why talk about it now?  Look back at where we were 3 months ago. Stillwell could handle a 6 minute headway.  Let the brains at transit deal with service levels because they are getting paid the big bucks to figure it out.  There are a lot of people swearing off the subway and who will be driving and taking car services to work and appointments.  Let's just wait and see how ridership ACTUALLY is at that point in time.

Holy shit balls lmao so does the  (F) even have enough R160s to run with a normal schedule?

I feel like everyone is repeating the same question. The (F) isn’t running its normal schedule, it’s still on it’s essential schedule that’s why it could spare a bunch of R160s to the (A) line.

This is what I said the other day and it's getting tiring.  Posters are TOO LAZY to look back a few days at their own posts and those of others.  In most cases they can find out the answers to their own inquiries.

Rather, they are making posts like they are the first ones to figure stuff out and they think that their head is the first head where the lightbulb goes off inside of.

Guaranteed his next question will be "Why isn't the F running a normal schedule?", without researching why.

Why pin it  ? Just READ THE THREAD 😀. They used to say that " reading is fundamental ". Nothing's changed.

Recently, there have been so many posts that to go back a day could be a few pages. Some people dont read that much just to ask a simple question. While it may not be necessary to some, it would stop the aggrevation some are experiencing relating to repeated questions.

I've been seeing some R160s on the (Q) lately. Does anyone know what they're doing there, as I thought the (Q) was all R46 and R68 ?

The (Q) uses whatever's at Coney Island. From my guess, C.I tends to throw some of them on that line with the (N)  (160s that is).

It's like a random assignment on the (R) before the fleet swap: R46 with at least 3-4 R160s on the line.

Coney Island still has about 120 R160s so they will pretty much be on whatever line they are needed on.

Car assignments are not set in stone.  CIYD assigned R160's are used on both the N and Q for maximum exposure.

(N)(W)(Q) are currently mixed fleet using R46/R68 & R68A/R160.

(B)(D) both using most of 100% R68 & R68A fleet of the Subway System.

(A)(C) both using R46/R160 and one set of R68/R68A on (A) for PM Rush Hours.

(E)(F)(R)(M) 100% R160.

(J)(Z)(L) R143/R160.

(G) R68 & R68A/R46.

Franklin Av (S) R68

Rockaway Park (S) R46

(1)(6) R62A

(3) R62

(2)(5) R142

(4) R142/R142A

(7) R188

Current Subway Cars are reliable:

R46/R68 & R68A/R R143/R160

R62/R62A, R142/R142A & R188.

R179 are Currently out of service it may or may not return to service depends if they are fixed or repaired properly. Until further Notice....

R44/R46/R68 had some major issues when they first started, and now they are so reliable after getting fixed and repairs so many times. They still continue to fix and repairs in the Train yards to all of the Subway Cars. Hopefully R179 will become reliable too if they are brought back to the system.

Notice how all the cars from Kawasaki dating back to the R62 didnt have major issues when first arriving. They should be given a contract to make all cars going forward bringing an end to the ridiculous bidding process.

R142A did.. I remember someone linking an article on here about the R142A being pulled from service when they was new due to problems. Prior to the R179s I think many ppl would agree the R142A was easily the worst NTT car class we had...

I havent heard about that. I would like to see that article. Any chance you know what the problem was that caused them to be removed temporarily.

R160 sets may have to stay on (A) Line permanently or until R179 returns, they may or may not return we will all soon see what is going to happen.

The R179s arent returning? Whats your source on that? Keeping the R160s at Pitkin is unsustainable if they need to get (F) service back to normal at any time but I will agree as an (A) line rider it is nice having R160s as half the fleet.
