21209 delivered in ROCKLAND COACHES paint. Ruh-roh, Raggy!

It looks like that one doesn't have the black trim in the front like Rockland's 19000s...I guess it's like Suburban's 20000s - paintable panels and no black trim.

21146, 21159 and 21172 inspected today and are already at Sicklerville. (21125 shuttling the drivers today)

Meanwhile 21105, 21112 and 21125 all went to CMF from MCI in Blackwood.

21103-21104 and 21127 are now active.

I wonder why this item is listed under the 10-year plan and not sooner: "replace outdated 40-foot cruiser buses with new 45-foot buses."

Some of these buses do not sound like they can make it past next year. Now, driving around a given day, most (not some) buses have the route taped to their windshields. Oradell regularly tows buses to a bigger garage for repairs, then has to shuttle them back in the middle of the night to get it in place for the AM. It is a waste of time and resources, and creates unnecessary liability and insurance using the wrecker in this manner. Hopefully the new garage will finish "ahead of schedule" so more holes can be patched in their budget.

Capacity issues. Oradell cannot fit 45ft buses in the garage. Market Street has space issues when it comes to storing 45ft buses.

That's understood. But this gives the impression that there may still be '01-'03's around, which will not retire until up to 10 years later, which is not imaginable given their condition.

Side note: the Pembina plant is on the chopping block come next year, currently Winnipeg Canada  and   Crookston, Minnesota plants are being heavily invested to co-build NFI products along side MCI next gen D series. Next 12 months will be interesting on how it affects NJT future bus orders after 2022. Meanwhile NFI will keep Pemibina plant operating just for NJT to complete the “Legacy” D series year 6 order.

The alternate procurement strategy plans for Oradell bus fleet replacement is still pending.

one option is to setup a temporary remote operation post at one of the park and rides  to house the 45 footers. That’s is my take on that. Stay tuned

There are a few other customers who are waiting for D coaches besides NJT. This year there were a few prison buses made (D4000 ISTV), a handful of D4505's (Academy?), one D4005 and even some D4000CT's. San Diego has some CNG buses on the line as well. 2022 should be the last year of traditional D production, then MCI needs to move on to the next-gen buses.

Coach USA/Rockland Coaches now has at least five 2021 cruisers on NJT property - 21203, 21206, 21209, 21211 and 21213. This runs counter to the belief that Wayne was going to be getting some buses up to 21240. I think Wayne's buses will be deferred to later in the model year.

In addition, I also saw 21212 and 21234. All of them are currently parked at the Suburban Transit garage, and as of right now are completely white.

Remaining Bus cruiser replacements D4500CT for year 5 (334) 21xxxx and year 6 (33) 22xxx  ( 367 Total combined )

22001 -21028
Ironbound
28 buses

21029-21073
Howell
44 buses

21074-21190
Meadowlands
116 buses

21191-21243
Wayne Garage
52 buses

240 total buses with NJT paint

Private Carrier:
Remaining 127 buses will be allocated to the private carriers below. This completes the 1104 bus contract for the D4500CT  by 1st  quarter of 2022

Rockland Coach
Suburban Trails
Academy Lines

Next phase is a separate contract spec for 290 cruisers sometime in mid 2021 and a final determination by 2022. It is likely NJT will receive the new next gen

MCI D45 CRT aka VIN 1M8X  that replaces the D4500CT 1M8P
This particular variant is not in production by MCI just yet.

This contract is meant to replace the fleet for Oradell, Fairview, Market St (290). None of these garages have the capacity to handle 45’s
Goal is to merge the cruisers to the new northern bus garage project in Ridgefield Park NJ which recently received court approval Nov 16, 2020 to proceed to legally acquire the land.

Wayne assigned bus fleet number sequence of year 6  will be fragmented.

I am not sure what caused it but allotments (52) for Wayne stays the same

21209, 21211 and 21213 are at Suburban. They're supposedly getting 30 buses.
