This is a major update to the original F59PH physics mod pack. This release adds the ability to swap out the updated EMD F59PH physics (0:00 and 18:32) with MPI MP36PH-3C physics (6:26 and 25:48) or EMD F125 Spirit physics (12:35 and 32:35). All three test runs seen in this video were done with an identical 7 car set of Bombardier BiLevel coaches and took place between Irvine and Tustin, beginning with a downhill run to Tustin and concluding after the uphill battle back to Irvine. You will notice the difference in speed between the locomotives, and thus, the benefit of having a higher horsepower locomotive.

This is the EMD SD70 Series Physics Modification pack for the SD70MAC, SD70ACe, and SD70M-2. In this video, you will see me demonstrate the changes that I've made to the locomotives to make them perform more realistically. The test consists of 3 locomotives of one class accelerating a 60 car Autorack freight train up to 70 MPH before utilizing only dynamic braking to stop.

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "SD70 V2 Volume 2 Loco Add-On" pack available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/208365/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. Physics adjustments made around the existing sounds.

The purpose of this pack is to adjust the locomotive weight, fuel capacity, motor amperage limits, and traction and braking effort values for more realistic operation.

The pack purchased from Steam includes the BNSF SD70MAC, BNSF SD70ACe, Canadian National SD70M-2, and Norfolk Southern SD70M-2. Originally, all locomotives in this pack shared a single set of operating physics, making them operationally identical in the game. However, we know that these locomotive models differ greatly in real life. This mod pack differentiates those locomotives in the game.

General Parameter Change Log (same for all three locomotive classes):

1. Set fuel tank capacity to 4,900 gallons.

2. Changed HUD ammeter function so that it displays tractive/braking effort in thousands of pounds. This means that if the HUD ammeter reads "157 Amps", the locomotive is putting out 157,000 lbs of tractive effort. Conversely, if the HUD ammeter reads "-34.52 Amps", the locomotive is putting out 34,520 lbs of dynamic braking effort.

3. Adjusted tractive effort ratings and curves for individual locomotive models based on the specifications listed below.

4. Adjusted dynamic brake effort ratings and curves for individual locomotive models based on the specifications listed below.

Specific horsepower and tractive effort ratings used in calculation for individual locomotive models:

1. EMD SD70MAC (EMD 16-710G3B; 4000 THP)

a. Starting tractive effort of 175,500 lbs (780.663 kN) up to 7.165 mph.

b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,350 hp (2,500 kW).

c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 81,000 lbs (360.3 kN) from 16.13 mph to 3 mph; linear fade from that speed to 0 lbs @ 1 mph.

d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 3,481.32 hp (2,598 kW).

e. Increased weight of 188.3 metric tons (415,126.18 lbs).

f. Maximum speed of 70 mph.

g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 191 gallons per hour.

2. EMD SD70ACe (EMD 16-710G3C-T2; 4300 THP)

a. Starting tractive effort of 189,000 lbs (840.714 kN) up to 7.646 mph.

b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,850 hp (2,873 kW).

c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 105,000 lbs (467.063 kN) from 14.297 mph to 3 mph; linear fade from that speed to 0 lbs @ 1 mph.

d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 4,000 hp (2,985 kW).

e. Increased weight of 191 metric tons (421,078.6 lbs).

f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.

g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 187 gallons per hour.

3. EMD SD70M-2 (EMD 16-710G3C-T2; 4300 THP)

a. Starting tractive effort of 163,000 lbs (7725.06 kN) up to 8.486 mph.

b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,685 hp (2,750 kW).

c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 86,850 lbs (386.328 kN) @ 17.288 mph; linear fade from that speed to 0 lbs @ 3 mph.

d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 4,000 hp (2,985 kW).

e. Increased weight of 177 metric tons (390,214.2 lbs).

f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.

g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 187 gallons per hour.

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Locate the RSC assets folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC)

2. Open Railworks_EMD_SD70MAC_SD70ACe_&_SD70M-2_Physics_Mod_Pack.rar

2a. Before proceeding to step 3, make sure your "RSC" folder is NOT set to "read only". You can change the folder settings using the properties function. IF the "RSC" folder is read only, the files will not overwrite existing files when you attempt step 3.

3. Drag both file folders ("SD70Pack02" and "SD70Pack03") from the .rar in step 2 into the directory you opened in step 1. Overwrite if asked.

4. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.

Thank you for downloading and installing.

Enjoy =)

Here is a showcase of the extended range dynamic brake feature that I've included as part of the physics mods for the EMD SD70M-2 and the GE ES44DC locomotives. The key feature here is the distinctive sawtooth profile of the extended range portion of the dynamic brake curve, something that has not been properly simulated in TS2015 (Railworks) until now. You can download these mods here:

Here are the operational parameters that I factored in when programming the mods for these two specific locomotives:

1. EMD SD70M-2 (EMD 16-710G3C-T2; 4300 THP)
 a. Starting tractive effort of 163,000 lbs (7725.06 kN) up to 8.486 mph.
 b. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,685 hp (2,750 kW).
 c. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 86,850 lbs (386.328 kN) from 22.4 mph to 9 mph; extended range sawtooth function between those speeds; linear fade from max brake effort @ 9 mph to 0 lbs @ 3 mph.
 d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 4,556 hp (3,400 kW).
 e. Increased weight of 177 metric tons (390,214.2 lbs).
 f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
 g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 187 gallons per hour.

2. GE ES44DC (GE GEVO-12; 4400 THP)
 a. Starting tractive effort of 142,000 lbs (800.68 kN).
 b. Continuous tractive effort of 105,680 lbs (470.08 kN) @ 12.9 mph.
 c. Traction horsepower at wheel is 3,800 hp (2835.821 kW).
 d. Max Dynamic Brake effort of 74,675 lbs (332.171 kN) @ 26.2 mph to 9 mph; extended range sawtooth function between those speeds; linear fade from max brake effort @ 9 mph to 0 lbs @ 3.5 mph.
 e. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 5,212.6 hp (3,890 kW).
 f. Increased weight of 190.509 metric tons (420,000 lbs).
 g. Maximum speed of 75 mph.
 h. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 210 gallons per hour.
 i. Adjusted HUD ammeter limits so that max traction amps is 1800 and max dynamic brake amps is 920. This is based off of info from BNSF ES44DC operating manual.

d. Dynamic Brake horsepower at wheel is 5,212.6 hp (3,890 kW).

e. Set weight @ 126 metric tons (277,779.6 lbs). This is to simulate the total lowered axle load on the powered axles, since the core game code only differentiates powered trucks from non-powered trucks, and not powered axles from non-powered axles.

f. Maximum speed of 75 mph.

g. Fuel consumption @ notch 8 is 210 gallons per hour.

h. Units numbered 8018-8047

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Locate the following directory: (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS)

2. Open Railworks_Kuju_BNSF_GE_ES44AC_&_ES44C4_Physics_Mod_Pack.rar

2a. Before proceeding to step 3, make sure your "Kuju" folder is NOT set to "read only". You can change the folder settings using the properties function. IF the "Kuju" folder is read only, the files will not overwrite existing files when you attempt step 3.

3. Drag the file folder from the .rar in step 2 into the directory you opened in step 1. Overwrite if asked.

4. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.

User's Manual:

Upon installation, the pack defaults to using the new ES44C4 Physics and numbering scheme. In order to switch physics, follow the steps below:

1. Open the following directories:

a. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44AC\BNSF\Simulation"

b. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\Kuju\RailsimulatorUS\RailVehicles\Diesel\ES44AC\BNSF\Engine"

2. In each of those directories, you will see two folders (one for each set of locomotive physics):

a. "ES44AC"

b. "ES44C4"

3. Once you choose which set of physics to use, open the respective physics folder in both directories from step 1.

4. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1a.

5. Proceed back to directory 1a and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted.

6. Copy (CTRL + C) all files you find in the opened folder located in directory 1b.

7. Proceed back to directory 1b and paste (CTRL + V) the copied files into the directory; overwrite when prompted.

8. If the previous 7 steps were completed properly, the physics swap should be successful; run TS2015 to check.

Thank you for downloading and installing.

Enjoy =)

I have updated the physics and sound modification packs for Amtrak's Siemens ACS-64 and EMD AEM-7DC to TS2015 standards. I am also releasing, for the first time, the Bombardier HHP-8 Physics mod pack. Included are simpler installation instructions, and minor detail updates. Also, the physics and sound mods are merged into one download for ease of access in case you need to re-install the mod after verifying steam files. Make sure you READ the readme file before doing anything with the packs, and definitely do so before you ask any questions about anything to do with the packs.

I hope they release some more 'commuter' type of route add-on's for TS2015...I've been playing too much of London's commuter rails as of late.

They are currently building the Miami to West Palm Beach route down in Sunny Florida. Perhaps we'll be getting Tri-Rail equipment. It remains to be seen.

Updated the Acela Pack yet again:

This is the Amtrak Acela Express Physics and Sound Upgrade pack (TS2015 version).

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the Amtrak Acela Express EMU Add-On pack avaliable at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/65231/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

The purpose of this pack is to correct some physics errors in the original Acela pack and swap in the HHP-8 Hybrid K5LA horn and bell sounds.

I also added in brand new door sounds and idle sounds.

Parameter Change Log:

1. Adjusted tractive effort and braking effort curves based on real world figures available online. Original figures used were much too high and lead to an unrealistically fast train set.

2. Adjusted amp ratings so that 1 amp = 1 kN of effort. Maximum traction amps = 225 amps @ 0 mph.

3. Adjusted individual car weights based on real world figures available online.

4. Added the ammeter feature on the HUD, and tweaked the cab TE display to read a maximum of 50,000 lbf of starting tractive effort.

5. Top speed has been unlocked from 165 mph to 205 mph. Based on available power from power cars, balancing speed is 186 mph for 7 car set.

For more specifics on the specific values that were changed, proceed here: http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=10774

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Open the Acela asset pack until the directory reads "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\AcelaPack01"

2. Then open the "Railworks_Acela_Express_Physics_&_Sound_Mod.rar" file.

3. Drag the folders from the .rar file and into the directory you opened in step one.

4. Overwrite if asked.

5. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check.

Thank you for downloading and installing.

Enjoy =)

I have yet again updated the M8 physics mod pack to ensure compatibility with the patch that was released by DTG for the M8 on December 2, 2014. The patch address several issues, but fails to correct the physics values, horn, door, and traction sounds. One important issue that WAS addressed was the dynamic brake behavior in relation to the master controller position. This mod pack has been updated to accommodate that fix.

This is the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 Physics Upgrade Pack, 2015 Edition (12/2/14 M8 Patch Compatible).

In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the Metro-North Kawasaki M8 EMU Add-On available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258647/

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

THIS IS NOT A SOUND UPGRADE PACK. The Leslie RS2M + door sound pack will be released separately from this pack.

The purpose of this pack is to improve accuracy of the tractive and braking effort curves, reflect the TE limit in the on-screen TE monitor, and tweak car weights slightly.

Parameter Change Log:

1. Modified Tractive Effort and Dynamic Brake curves based on 806 kW power rating per car and 11,582.7306 lbf (51.52255 kN) starting effort and 16,216.4234 lfb (72.134 kN) braking effort.

1a. Starting acceleration is now calibrated to the specified 2.0 mph/s from 0 mph to 35 mph.

1b. Maximum braking rate is now 3.0 mph/s attainable from ~25 mph to 0 mph.

2. Maximum sustainable speed limited to 100 mph via changes to TE curve file.

3. Ampere parameters adjusted so that cab TE monitor display accurate to the actual tractive effort being applied to the rail.

4. Weights modified to match those in manual; A car = 65.7 metric tons, B car = 65.22 metric tons

5. Updated brake pressure specs to be compatible with the M8 patch that was released on 12/2/14.

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions

1. Proceed to open folders until your directory reads "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\M8Pack01\".

3. Then open the "Railworks_MNR_Kawasaki_M8_Physics_Mod.rar" file.

4. Highlight all folders in the .rar file and drag them into the file directory from step 1.

5. Click "OK" when if asks you to Confirm File Copy.

6. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to confirm.

Thank you for downloading and installing.

Enjoy =)
