Trainspotter Posted September 10, 2008 #1 Posted September 10, 2008 Jet fans may face M-E-S-S mess, mess, mess NY DAILY NEWS SEPTEMBER 10, 2008 Jets fans are going to have to take a train to a bus to get to their home opener this Sunday - and it may not be as smooth as a Brett Favre touchdown drive. Despite rising ridership, NJTransit has scrapped the nonstop bus route that ran from Port Authority Bus Terminal to Giants Stadium. Fans instead have to take a train from Penn Station to Secaucus and switch to a shuttle bus to the Meadowlands. The new service got off to a rocky start last week when more than 6,000 confused fans endured long lines on their way to the Giants' home opener. Fans were forced to buy three tickets for the round-trip, and crowds formed at Secaucus due to a shuttle shortage. "What a disaster," a Giants fan with the user name gmen13 wrote on the team's fan site. "The bus/train combo from NYC took forever. Very disorganized." Officials admit they have some work to do. "There are some things that we are going to be tweaking," NJTransit spokesman Dan Stessel said. Officials say the new $10 service will eventually save time by allowing fans to avoid heavy traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel and congestion around the bus terminal. A rail spur will open next year linking the Meadowlands to Secaucus Junction rail station.
Pablo M 201 Posted September 10, 2008 #2 Posted September 10, 2008 Yeah, this new service NJT started was going to get to a very rough start. I don't like the new service. The 351 was better from PABT to the Meadowlands.
