Actually, at that point, they probably looked more like this, minus the JFK Express to 21st Street of course.

Hard to recognize that front rollsign, actually. The 1988ish set for the R46 is Helvetica with an Akzidenz R, while the earlier 1986ish set is all Azkidenz. I'm not sure where these signs, with a Helvetica R, came from. The R is one bullet the MTA has kept Azkidenz even today.

Wish all trains have blue stripes, like the buses. Look so good on them.The year 2019 will be the last time we will see the R46. :(
