LTA1992 Posted December 29, 2014 Share #76 Posted December 29, 2014 Well....when you think about it....Masked Rider-san kinda makes a point. At least in my eyes, the point is that technological and medical innovations that could do wonders for humanity's development are often sidelined by issues that get media outlets good ratings. Or those that help escalate "The Agenda".
CenSin Posted December 31, 2014 Share #77 Posted December 31, 2014 Elevator issues might still be an issue after all: http://secondavenuesagas.com/2014/12/31/fare-hikes-7-line-extension-capital-funding-loom-in-the-year-ahead/

paulrivera Posted January 1, 2015 Share #79 Posted January 1, 2015 I wouldn't be surprised if they just held off on the extension until the Summer pick for the crews starts (the end of June IINM)
Javier Posted January 1, 2015 Share #80 Posted January 1, 2015 As I read this from a ad: You could still wait for that 2nd Ave Subway to be a thing.
TrainFanInfinity Posted January 1, 2015 Share #81 Posted January 1, 2015 Just a random suggestion, but couldn't they open 34th Street on weekdays and then work on the elevators on the weekends? If they can shut down 1/2 the line on the weekend, I don't think that 1 station should be a problem. (Well unless they need to work on the elevator through the week)
Javier Posted January 1, 2015 Share #82 Posted January 1, 2015 That's actually a good idea. Are they installing the CBTC Systems on the this month?

(Well unless they need to work on the elevator through the week) Once again, ADA laws prohibit stations from opening unless they are 100% accessible. You just gotta wait until everything is done

Finally trains are going past QBP to terminate during GOs.

CenSin Posted January 4, 2015 Share #90 Posted January 4, 2015 Are they installing the CBTC Systems on the this month? You're time scale is a bit short. I think you mean this decade. That's pretty much how long it took to get the (L)'s CBTC system done.
Fan Railer Posted January 5, 2015 Share #91 Posted January 5, 2015 If all goes as planned, Flushing Line CBTC is set to go online around the 2018 timeframe.

That's pretty much how long it took to get the (L)'s CBTC system done. To be fair, a good portion of that was the lawyers battling it out over the contracts, which thankfully didn't happen this time. It always seems to take the MTA three tries to get things right.

Don't forget that there's a second entrance under construction. It apparently won't be finished until late next year though.
