lawkev Posted February 3, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2015 This is a thread for the new Tower Operator Exam. Does anybody plan on taking it? Does anyone have any tips on how to prepare for it? Thanks
RTOMan Posted February 4, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2015 Are you a CR?
Xentor Posted February 4, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 4, 2015 Are you a CR? Good question. I believe he is RTOMan. Yeah it's only for current employees such as Conductors, Signal maintainers and I believe S/A's. A large bulk of the questions on the test will come from the rule book and Bulletin book. If you are XX you're in luck because you can ask around at various terminals and people will hook you up with study materials.

S/A Vee Posted February 6, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 6, 2015 I took the last Tower test......They ask you about the different types of tower machines, levers colors. If you can get your hand on a tower manual you should be fine. Know your rule book, Radio codes, baton procedures, absolute block.

lawkev Posted September 26, 2015 Author Share #9 Posted September 26, 2015 I took the exam today. I must say that I underestimated it. Does anyone know if it is a pass or fail or does everyone get called as long as the list is active? Thank you
S/A Vee Posted September 26, 2015 Share #10 Posted September 26, 2015 Well you have to score above a 70, to be placed on the list. Then you have to wait to be called.

lawkev Posted October 15, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted October 15, 2015 The results were supposed to be out today but I don't see it on MTA.info. I hope they put it up. I hope I don't have to take a trip to Brooklyn.

CeeMatt3000 Posted October 19, 2015 Share #14 Posted October 19, 2015 That was a tough exam. I scored a 65 according to the answer key. Better luck next time I guess.
Snowblock Posted October 20, 2015 Share #15 Posted October 20, 2015 Only 90 people passed the last one. I had an 86%. I guess they didn't make the new one any easier?
MsHottieWithBody Posted April 12, 2016 Share #16 Posted April 12, 2016 I took the exam today. I must say that I underestimated it. Does anyone know if it is a pass or fail or does everyone get called as long as the list is active? Thank you I know it's an old post, but you said you took the exam. So can you share what kind of questions were on the exam? I ask because some say there are questions about interlocking machine types, levers, colors, etc., but I'd rather hear it from the horse's mouth. Everyone was saying the promo Train Operator was going to have questions about bulletins, signals, braking, car equipment, etc., but it turned out to be straight up reading comprehension. Not one question required the test taker to know a single bulletin or piece of equipment.
