Free for the first 9 days ?!?!! Now that's how you introduce a new service to people....

If it makes it somewhat better here, on the debut day of the B32 and B84, the farebox on the buses weren't working (lol).

I may actually try that fastrack out because of that. However, the Waterbury Branch schedule is horrible (and going to New Haven costs more than Waterbury, not to mention that I would have to pay $1.50 on the bus afterward to go to New Bristol or New Britain).

LOL... That don't count.

Nah, but I've been wanting to do Hartford again anyway... One quick/truncated piece of a fantrip is certainly not enough.

An old acquaintance (who got married & now resides in S. Windsor) suggested years back (when I started riding Stamford's routes) that I drive out to downtown Hartford & book a hotel & spend a weekend out there, but I'm not doing that just for a fantrip (I had mentioned to him after liking Stamford's CTTransit system, I'd be interested in riding out some of the New Haven & Hartford routes).... This is someone that used to live all over NYC & Connecticut, including Stamford (which is where he was living where we both worked in the West Village).... I couldn't fathom living in so many places of residences like that (of course, this was someone that's got 14 years on me, but still)... I tend to get along/vibe more with cats that are older than me anyway....

Since the company done moved out to Mineola, it (the commute) was simply too much.... He ended up finding something in Massachusetts (didn't say what city) where he's making about the same as we were back in the village.... More power to him & his family...

Realistically, I still have to get around to fanning more of New Haven....

I'm not getting "waterburied" (screwed out in waterbury) ever again... 3.5 hour wait for a damn train...

Wow, I never knew the opening day for this new service until now, lol.

Great stuff!

Nice pics!! When I was there the express was empty and there was no destination sign.

When I saw Flatbush Ave I'm like whaaaaaa thinking its Brooklyn lol

Good stuff!

Thanks, peeps :)

Well, they really want to have people use this and check it out as there are many supporters

I think

think all buses are free, even the express ones. Besides, now there are Gillig BRT Hybrids that are waiting for your camera. The drivers of these buses are very friendly too.

You could take Greyhound/Peter Pan or Bolt Mega Bus to Hartford then fan this Fastrak route that way.

Greyhound is not as expensive as people think, its cheaper than the NJT/Septa train between NYC & Philly, and one way to AC vs the 319.

Oh, and nice photos OP!

Yes, the Waterbury Train schedule is ridiculous indeed. However, I think I managed to find a route to Hartford that would be pretty quick, which consists of taking the Express Bus on both legs to/from Hartford from Waterbury. I would want to try out the 925, but the first bus is slated to arrive at the station two minutes before the train departs to Bridgeport (I don't wanna pay the onboard fare, and 2 minutes is very little time).

I've done that before; the Greyhound is much more expensive, and I'm looking for the least expensive way and a fairly quick way there.

The train is $29 R/T, and the express bus is free. Greyhound is more than double, at $62 R/T.

Greyhound has dynamic pricing these days where the fare gets higher by bus and by the demand that the bus have, I paid $41 which is still more but get service every 90 mins from NYC.
