Are these units retired from passenger service?

3979 (LGA)

4077 (MV)

3884 (OF)

4600, 4602 (FB)

I still have 3979 and 4077 listed as active, but have the other three as retired. They’re still listed on the Google Sites Roster, though.

It looks like mine wasn’t used as reference. In this thread a few days ago, I did list 3979 being in the scrap lot. 4077 was retired in November, 3884 last ran two weeks ago but someone claimed it was retired. I don’t know about 4600, but 4602 ran on the B2 earlier today.

It wouldn't  be 4  it's 3 units that left 3887,3936 & 3947.

4411 is at Flatbush.

3854 has been retired a while ago.

4479 is at Stengel.

4250 is missing from your list. That unit is still active at MHV.

Also, it doesn’t look like the post was meant for the scrap thread.

3892 is the missing unit. Although, it'll be determined soon for retirement but not now as in offically retired. At the MCH depot, they still have 3892 along with the 3 mentioned.

Point out: 3884, mentioned before has no farebox removed from service

The following buses have been retired at LGA:  3581 3141 3144-3145.  More to come soon.

I’m surprised LGA is holding onto those Orion VII OG’s for as long as they have. I recall for the past month or two they only had 4 of them left. They should be down to 3 Orion OG’s now.

I always wonder when a depot has so few buses of a particular fleet like LGA had with the OG’s why not transfer them out to another depot in this case JFK since they still have about 90 OG’s in service and just transfer 4 NG’s to LGA.

I’ve been wondering the same thing, currently with the four NG’s at East New York. They can easily transfer them to Fresh Pond or Flatbush and exchange them with XD40’s.

If a Depot holds on to a bus for a while that would mean that they are spares just in case. The Depot might not need them but eventually they'll get something in return for it and or it would just retire out of the Depot without  the bus having to be transferred out.

I think it may not be a difference since JFK's Old Gens (BP as well) are being retired as well in that phase. Usually, buses almost being retired arriving at a new depot doesn't last two days or a week in service. It's also to that point that they can remove the NYCT Next Gens in random occurrence from their pool due to heavy usage back in NYCT service leading to the point that it can't be used anymore.

The 3 Old Gens at LGA can be retired but were on hold bc of another retirement plan, removing some NGs from service (Ex: 4039, 4540 and 4062)

Old Gens are in retirement phase but, Next Gens can too

These are the recent units that are currently spotted at Eastchester scrap. Some can be mentioned but in my apologies to clarify from the recent spot on.

3781: new to the scrapyard from Baisley Park

4371: Zerega/KB to scrap

New units mentioned to scrap are now in the lot: 3070, 3530, 3674, 3884, 3887, 3889, 3892, 3963, 3998, 4064, 4226, 4474 and 4663

4273: At Eastchester part where local and express buses are. However, used as a parts bus for their 31 Next Gens in local service.

2214-2215 at Castleton has been retired.

2291-2294, 2296-2299 at Charleston had not been running for a long time. They are currently either going through maintenance, or are in long-term storage to even out mileage.

Or just nor needed for service at the present time.

Reminder to all:  a bus shouldn't be considered retired till it's seen in ECH scrap lot!   There are too many false alarms of retired/scrapped buses here.

At that point, I know what you mean. There are instances that buses are retired although they can pop at Eastchester at a later date or at the depot itself before being moved to the scrap. Not to encourage random posting, like recently LGA still has 4039, 4627, and now 3141, 3144 inside the depot marked as retired although, they have no farebox with not to use signage. Some have the back panel opened for parts like 4039 and 4615. Even 3674 was spotted at BP without the farebox two weeks ago but this week, it's at ECH scrap.

It's just a tip or note now on being careful which units are retired or not and to the point that they can be in MTA Bus without GPS.
