BM5 via Woodhaven Posted July 25, 2015 Share #26 Posted July 25, 2015 If you feel so confident about invading other people's personal space then why lie? What's with the "technically" you weren't crappola? The justifications kill me. Be man enough to say that it's legal but you're invading people's personal space which is why some get up in arms. Okay wannabe Judge Judy, before you continue your mighty tirade, I suggest you reread my post. In addition, I'm pretty sure everyone here who posts photos has gotten a BO or TO, or another employee on camera at least once, and not on purpose. Why don't you call all of us out then? Don't here it from me, here it from a SEPTA police officer Start at 3:39 (Video is not mine, credits go for Trainwizard on youtube)

NYCtransitfan Posted July 25, 2015 Author Share #28 Posted July 25, 2015 Wow, I didn't expect to get so many replies to this thread. Anyways to clear a few things up, no, the driver was not visible in any of the pictures I took of his bus. You can't make out his face at all. I told him that, and I even showed him the photos I took on both days to prove my point. As I mentioned in my first post however, I did say that he is allowed to take a photo of me if he wants, but I wanted to find out if his superiors were asking about me taking photos of their buses. Thinking back I should've just let it go though, and it was a waste of time in the end.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted July 26, 2015 Share #29 Posted July 26, 2015 But you're not invading anyone's space when taking pictures of buses, not any more than if you went to a touristy location and started taking photos there. Invading a driver's personal space would be if you actually went in the bus, shoved the camera directly in his face, and started taping him as he does his job, potentially trying to catch him slipping up. And that's EXACTLY how they feel.... Not sure what isn't clear about the activity, but whether it's shoved, not shoved, on purpose or not on purpose, that's the result it creates. BUT BUT BUT BUT... trainfan22 Posted July 26, 2015 Share #31 Posted July 26, 2015 One wonders how these people go to touristy areas! Do they come up to tourists and demand that they not take pictures of them* either? It boggles the mind. * Even though no one's actually taking their goddamn photo. I taken photos of buses on 5th Ave in the Rockefeller Center area before as well as around the Empire State Building, B/O's usually don't notice you taken pictures there in the first place, if you ever sat up front on an express bus that travels down 5th during evenings/nights, that street is busy and tight and its highly unlikely they would ever notice anyone taking photos of there bus. theaveragejoe Posted July 29, 2015 Share #33 Posted July 29, 2015 If you explain the hobby to bus drivers and or police officers if you get stopped and are friendly and carry yourself nice you will never have a problem. Only once after I explained to the driver did a driver ever yell at me. Once they know that your hobby is about taking photo's of the bus it self and not of them they are mostly cool. I also try and not take pics that would show the drivers face.
ttcsubwayfan Posted July 29, 2015 Share #34 Posted July 29, 2015 The flaw with your premise, though, is assuming that every driver that confronts you will be reasonable, which is a rather tall order. For every reasonable driver you'll get 2 that are needlessly paranoid and think that you're out to get them. The best you can do is shake your head and move on. peacemak3r Posted July 30, 2015 Share #35 Posted July 30, 2015 The flaw of all this is that even though it's legal to take photos, you have to understand that law enforcement and employees still probably get the sense of danger with all the terrorists scares as of late. QM1to6Ave Posted August 16, 2015 Share #37 Posted August 16, 2015 The cop in that bus video was great, I hope the person who shot the video wrote in a commendation for him. Very professional.

mattfutureconductor5 Posted May 21, 2016 Share #40 Posted May 21, 2016 The bus driver have the right to take photo and you have the right to take photos, If anything happen like someone bring a gun or knife, the bus driver can snapped a photo and give it to officer. I see in other countries , they snapped photo of everybody on the bus.
