MTA Bus Posted August 7, 2015 Share #51 Posted August 7, 2015 6th Avenue is next after the QBL. The is slated to be the first non-isolated route to get CBTC for almost all its length. From Union Turnpike to Avenue X. Only the express track on the Culver line is supposed to recieve CBTC.
LTA1992 Posted August 7, 2015 Share #52 Posted August 7, 2015 Wrong, that express track is for testing the mixing of Siemens and Thales systems. What I said prior are the exact facts. If you actually watched the June MTA board meeting, you would know that.
ttcsubwayfan Posted August 7, 2015 Share #53 Posted August 7, 2015 Not to mention... what would be the point of having CBTC on the Culver express, when it never gets used for service?

Fresh Pond Posted August 7, 2015 Share #55 Posted August 7, 2015 Really? R160's heavier than 32? Damn boi. R32s are about 79,935 lbs R160s are about 85,200 lbs
Art Vandelay Posted August 7, 2015 Share #56 Posted August 7, 2015 The Cutoff point will be around Jay Street. Culver will not be CBTC between Jay and Church for normal operations in the reasonably near future.
ttcsubwayfan Posted August 7, 2015 Share #57 Posted August 7, 2015 Like LTA said, to test the mixing of the Thales and Siemens CBTC systems. That's not what I was talking about. I was responding to MTA Bus' post that said "Only the express track on the Culver line is supposed to receive CBTC." That is not what CBTC on the line means, since the express track never gets used for service.
Art Vandelay Posted August 7, 2015 Share #58 Posted August 7, 2015 (edited) The point of the CBTC installation on the Culver is for the interoperability tests. Proof of that is that it is only being installed on express tracks. Edited August 7, 2015 by Art Vandelay

SubBus Posted August 12, 2015 Share #68 Posted August 12, 2015 Chances are highly unlikely that will see a R143 on the . They don't want those cars buried along Queens Boulevard/Jamaica Yard overnights and weekends. Same reason that you don't see CBTC equipped R160s on the .

j express Posted August 12, 2015 Share #73 Posted August 12, 2015 I am seeing the (J)s R160 is mostly CBTCs ones with a few regular ones also. The from what I see is using the majority of the non CBTC R160s at ENY with a very small amount of CBTC R160s.
