thewind823 Posted November 16, 2015 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2015 I'm a new signal maintainer helper, and I've been on the job for about 8-9 months now. I've been written up for being late once, and one other time I've been docked 5 minutes without being written up. In total I've been late 2 times, with one time being written up. Will this get me fired at the end of my probation period? If not how come?
SpikeMauler Posted November 27, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 27, 2015 Not sure. Being written up while on probation is not a good thing to say the least. While on probation you don't have much protection. The TA can basically fire you for anything. Don't know why you weren't warned first, especially being on probation. So, Transit will probably do 1 of 3 things with you: 1) You pass probation 2) They extend your probation 3) They fire you. In the meantime I would consult with a union rep and ask their advice on your situation. Good luck
ErikNYC Posted November 27, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2015 I highly doubt you will get fired, but stop being late. The worst that will happen is they extend you probation. Being on time, is late.... especially when on probation. Try and always be there thirty minutes early.
Olegkha Posted November 28, 2015 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2015 They will not fire you, they may extend you, but even that is probably not going to happen because of 1 write up.
AM GALEM Posted November 15, 2020 Share #5 Posted November 15, 2020 Can your probation be extended from a customer complaint?

As far as I have seen/from stories I've heard, it's all up to your immediate supervisor. Although, repeating the same mistake twice is VERY likely to grant you an extension.
