RailBus63 Posted July 6, 2016 Share #51 Posted July 6, 2016 The Buy America act states that the majority of the product (not quite sure of the exact emount, maybe 70-80 don't quote me on it) must be made in the US. Which is why these companies (Kawasaki, New Flyer, Bombardier, etc.) are opening up plants across the US. The 'Buy America' requirements are that 60 percent of the components (based on value) must be produced in the U.S.and final assembly must take place in this country. They should make it 100% (I know California has strict guidelines about the "Made in USA" regulations), but given the amount of outsourcing that has gone on, it would likely be difficult to find the companies here to source all of the parts locally.
