Congrats to all the new hires and hope I join you on the t/o journey. I have a question? I did my first pre employment on 11/16. When they contact me for the second time what exactly occurs. From what I have read they do your medical and drug trst again. Do they hire u on the spot? When do they review your 21 page booklet and take ur fingerprints? Just curious and good luck to all!

They do a full medical assessment with the doctor.  EKG, BP, hearing, vision, urine for protein and sugar etc., if anything pops they will put you on medical hold until your PCP or a specialist clear you.  If all goes with medical with out any holds they will review your 21 page booklet and then you will get sworn in, photo taken for ID as well as fingerprinting and appointed to the next available class all the same day.

I didn’t purchase a kaka bag just for that fact. I actually got a tactical bag where the backpack straps can clip on/off and has multiple grab handles.

Not sure if it’s from this particular seller but the kaka bag that people are getting is: https://www.amazon.com/KAKA-Laptop-Backpack-17-Inch-Laptops/dp/B01D4H1BOE/ref=mp_s_a_1_2/144-7951842-1087668?ie=UTF8&qid=1542633317&sr=1-2&refinements=p_89%3AKAKA&pi=SL140_CR0,0,140,180_QL70

I’ve seen people with both types and in green as well.

Thanks for the link. Can you send the link for the bag you bought so i can compare them and see which one i should buy

idk but more than likely.  for those starting 11.26.18 that is a pay week for the city so more than likely they will hold it

They do not hold your first check. The week starts on Sunday. If you start on the 26th, how could you be paid on the 29th? The week of the 26th will be your first week going towards your first check on December 13th.

It's always been like that. You get paid this week for last week's work, not this week's. You always have to wait til the next pay date when you start a new job.

at any job once you begin a during a work week they hold the pay until the next pay week.  makes total sense

Yea but when u say hold it u make it sound like they are withholding pay u are entitled to. It's just not payday for you yet. The week you are starting in does not get paid until the next payday. Not a matter of holding just a matter of timing.

now as a current supervisor at my job.  holding meaning they are not paying you that week not that you are not entitled to it.  its just an understanding of the terminology used.  sorry for the confusion of those who don't/didn't understand

I have preemployment on the 26th of this month. Among the required documents to bring is high school diploma. I reached out to my old high school to receive an official copy of my diploma as I lost the original. If I dont receive it by my preemployment date, will it be a problem? What can I do?

During p/e for me, 2 individuals in my group were missing documents/traffic violations not cleared. The gentlemen in the small room gave one of them a separate date to come back when all his docs were together.

Yeah I thought you meant holding it, like you not supposed to get it, for a reason, but it’s just the week you’re coming in. I came in the week before and I got paid the next week, so I was confused when you said that. All good though.

Hello. If anyone can answer this it would be greatly appreciated. I was called in for the pre screening at Livingston St for exam#7604 for T/O. I completed the 1st day of the pre screening/Drug testing on November 14th. If I remember correctly the staff informed us that we should be receiving an email or voicemail  48-72 hours after the drug testing. I have been checking my emails both inbox and spam as well as checking my voicemails consistently and I have yet to receive any notice from them. I am worried that they may have attempted to contact me and I just did not see it. Can anyone please give me some advice on what I should do in order to see if they have attempted to contact me and I just missed it or deleted an email by accident? Does it pay to contact Livingston st or does anyone have any other advice on what I should do? I know for a fact that i have passed the drug test so I am just worried that I missed their attempt to contact me. Thank you guys and i hope someone has an answer or advice that will help me out sooooo much!!!

I don’t think they’re up to us yet. I was there the same day and I haven’t received anything yet. Last I heard, they were only up to list numbers in the 6-7 hundreds.

It takes 48-72 hours for them to get the results back but that does not mean that’s when you’ll be contacted. Them contacting you back can be anywhere from 3 to 90 days. Sit tight, your time will come.
