Did you test too high? Don’t you need a doctor’s note saying it’s under control if that happens? What’s the blood pressure limit?

I didn’t get called into medical yet, but I do have high bp which is controlled. I got a doctors note for my job last month but I’m afraid the date might cause a problem since it’ll be probably 2 month old by the time/if they call me for med.

Just make sure you get one before you think you'll get the email so it can be recent just in case they say something. Also just take deep breaths and exhale slowly is usually helps to lower your BP during a check my BP used to be high  i got it down to 106 when the mta checked.

For school car training, paperwork says gray shirt with collar, Do they care if it’s bit on the darker or lighter side ?

Also, for anything in training , is this our uniform during training or will they provide us with uniform ?

Mines was light grey when I was in  school car but that’s not gon be your uniform for the entire school car, when you do your uniform fitting it should take about a week or so for the uniform to arrive then you should be good to go.

They don’t really care what kind of grey. As long as it’s grey.

Just make sure your neck is 17 or less for males and 16 or less for females

What's the deal with a neck size larger than this? Does it mean they won't hire you?

Cool. One more question, sorry for the barrage of questions, how long is the sleep study?

Hey there everyone, does anyone have an idea based on what they’re seeing or hearing if they will arrive to the low 2000’s by the end of the year? According to the dcas site, last one is #1947. I’m hoping they can run through them before the year is out. Any response is appreciated, thank you.

I don't mind the questions, I'm glad to be of help.

I've only done phase 1 so far. They gave me a take home test which was something I wore on my head with sensors and a small pair of breathing tubes into my nose. I took it back to them and they just called me yesterday to schedule a follow up with the pulmonologist on Wednesday. I guess I find out Wednesday whether phase 2, which requires sleeping over, is necessary or not. It depends on how many awakenings per hour were detected in phase 1.

Thanks! If its not too personal, what is your weight/BMI and neck circumference? What was the root cause of your medical hold? Was is because of the risks of sleep apnea or the surgery? Did the doctor at MTA say anything about sleep apnea or you just happened to mention about you doing a sleep study?

I have no medical conditions, my neck circumference is 16.5in and I weigh about 300lbs, so BMI is about 45, so I am considered obese, but I am a bit built/stocky, I do a lot of weight training. I don't snore or have any sleeping disorders. I sleep fine. I need this job and I'm afraid that I will be placed on medical hold for my weight. I've seen a lot of comments on holds for high blood pressure, diabetes, surgeries, etc, but nothing about obesity. Has anyone been on medical hold for just being obese?

You're BMI cant be above 35 the doctor stated during the medical he said because the bigger you are apparently it means the more prone you are to sleep apnea

My neck is 17.5, so that alone got me placed on hold. My bmi is also over 30 but the sleep survey they gave us says 35 bmi and/or over 17 inches. So even if your neck is lower than 17, if your bmi is over 35 u will still be placed on medical hold. Obesity only gets you placed on hold as it relates to sleep apnea. If u don't have apnea u won't be placed on hold and even if you do get placed on hold, all u have to do is see a sleep specialist.

The mta doc told me that if I am determined to have apnea, I have to use the cpap machine they give u for apnea for 80 percent at least of 30 days. So u can have apnea, u just have to comply with the doctors orders. If u don't have apnea, even better. But obesity alone won't cost u the job, don't worry.

Even if I didn't get placed on hold for apnea tho, I would still have to get the surgical report for the back surgery I had. I went to the hospital and they said they would send it to me within the week, so I should be able to clear both of my holds by the end of June.

Thanks for this. It's helpful. Did they tell you the maximum blood pressure one can have?

So should i see a specialist now? I dont want to go into the medical just to be placed on hold. What are my options? Should I do a sleep study? Or is there other/quicker examination for sleep apnea?

Idk anything about the blood pressure since mine was fine. I imagine anything too high or low will get placed on hold. U could Google what's considered too high or too low.

Your best bet is to do it now if u think u will be called for medical soon. If u see a sleep specialist they will tell u your options. I did the take home kit because it was easier, but it was very uncomfortable and I woke up a lot due to the discomfort. I still don't know if that threw my readings off. I might end up having to spend the night at a sleep lab, I will find out Wednesday.
