UEENS — A person was fatally struck by a LIRR train, suspending service to Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal during the Tuesday evening commute, according to the FDNY and MTA.

The person was hit on the westbound track east of the Queens Village LIRR Station in Jamaica around 5:45 p.m., MTA spokesman Salvatore Arena said.

The victim was declared dead on the scene, according to the FDNY.

The person's identity was not immediately known, fire and MTA officials said.

"Somebody was on the track that should not have been on the track," Arena said.

The MTA suspended trains in and out of Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn for more than an hour after the incident — except on the Port Washington line.

Two days ago a similar dimwit was on the tracks near Stilwell Avenue station. I was on an arriving (N) train and we were idled for about fifteen minutes. The power was cut off as well. In eighty degree weather.

Sheesh.
