mta.info is still showing "happy labor day" and the service changes for the holiday... :D  but nothing for the storm yet

I think some actions are needed, especially "MODERATE TO MAJOR COASTAL FLOODING.....ARE POSSIBLE" said in the weather advisory

If we have another Hurrican Sandy...

Goodbye 34 St-Hudson Yards, Rector St, South Ferry Loop, New South Ferry (again...), Mountage, Canarsie Tube, Clark St Tubes, and so forth.

Don't forget Harlem – 148th Street, 145th Street, and how could you forget the Rockaways.

Guys, do you understand that the chances of Hermine being another Sandy is pretty low... but heavy rain and strong winds is likely in NYC. Not Sandy-like winds and rain though.

Actually, the last forecast I saw had the storm moving out and NYC and the shore being spared, however, beach erosion could still prove to be a big issue.

Half the point of the thorough construction work on affected stations has been to prepare the system for future storms. Fix and Fortify is the operative term, which is what happened in the Montague and others. 34th St. is not in a serious flood zone and was built with flooding in mind, and the Canarsie can flood all they want...still being rebuilt.

Even offical forecasters aren't sure how close the storm could move toward tri-state, so I don't know how some people here could say it is or isn't another Sandy

The new forecast track shows a little more bend back toward the west than the previous track, then it is a little slower to move the system to the east-northeast later in the period. It should be noted that the GFS and ECMWF both bring the center of Hermine closer to the coast than the current forecast, and if this trend continues it may require some adjustment to the track in later advisories.

And speaking of which:

The guy who runs this site (WxRisk.com) is very accurate as a rule and usually is proven right (this is his latest Facebook post).

Well, Hurricane Sandy also involved a snowstorm...

ehhh.....not the point.....indeed Sandy brought snow to VA/ West VA but not NYC. This is not a weather thread so we only focus on the impact of storms to tri-state and its tranpsortation systems.

btw, MTA haven't yet told their passengers to stay tuned that weather might affect their travel plan for weekend...not very good

Well, you're comparing it to Sandy, which quite frankly was a freak weather event that required a lot of things falling into place, like a snowstorm merging into a hurricane. If that's the comparison you want to make, don't complain when it gets evaluated.
