Should There Be A Bx28 Ltd

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at the schedule right now and if they combined the Bx28 and 38 they could run Limited service during rush hours. But right now, it would be too much of a hassle since the 28 and 38 split up in Co-op City.

I think we had a Bx25 over on Allerton Avenue that was a Limited too once upon a time. This was at least 10 years ago so my memory's a bit fuzzy on that...

Bx25/26 just split up in Co-Op City kinda like the 28/38 the 26 is now running exact route of the 25. The 25 was never limited.

I Don't Really Know They Already Have The Bus Codes For It

Where did you get the codes from? Because if it's what I think it is, then those codes aren't real.

I see a Bx28 LTD running weekdays only if this were to happen. Weekends it most likely will be all local.

If anything they should run both the Bx28 and Bx38 more frequently AND provide some sort of limited stop service.  Both of run incredibly slow and always seem crowded when I've seen them when on the express bus.

I fixed the link, and yep, exactly what I thought. Fantasy ideas.....

These are fantasy bus codes that are effective for the Luminator signs.

I can take credit for the made up codes, including the Bx28 LTD, although I admit a few aren't exactly "realistic". I call it my "parallel universe". Edited by ShadeJay

I imagine that the Bx26 LTD can work for rush hours only. Bx28 LTD can work weekdays more or less because of the Bx38. Otherwise I see the Bx28 as rush hours too.

The Bx25 was basically the Co-Op City shortcut. Instead of looping up like the 26 did, it cut straight across via Asch Loop.

IMO The 26 is a pretty efficient route but it has a flaw that can't be fixed by a LTD... Kazimiroff Blvd is supposed to absorb traffic from BP/Southern Blvds, Allerton and Mosholu/Bronx River Pkwys but it's 1 lane in each direction.

How would you even structure a Bx28 Ltd?:

- local east of Gun Hill (5), local south of 205th (D), and LTD everywhere else in-between

- LTD stops throughout the whole route

- LTD stops from Co-op to 205th (D), then local to Fordham

Whenever I have to go out to co-op, I take the (2) to the Bx26 b/c of how efficient it is... It's an underrated route IMO.

But since it doesn't serve any of the Dyre stations, you get folks from Co-op utilizing 28's/38's more......

With the Bx26, I'll put up with the crawl through the park, if it means avoiding the crowding & everything else that goes on w/ the 28/38....

A Bx26 LTD I don't see as being necessary, regardless....

So What The Headways For The LTD

I just wish there were more buses on the Bx26 because when bronx science and lehman let out, the buses will be packed for sure. I've only caught it once where it wasnt packed to the brim with students but it probably left early. They literally have one bus and most of the time, they are forced to skip stops with passengers waiting, so its really sad how you're forced to wait for another bus and this why ridership is declining.

Lol.... I'm not exactly agreeing that there should be one.

Thing of it is, when it comes to serving Co-op, the creme de la creme are the Bx28/38 local & the BxM7 express.... Hence, the crux of the service is given to the 28/38 when it comes to the local.... It shouldn't be all about co-op, but that's basically what it is out there.... People in general are going to gravitate to the route that offers the most service.... I happen to agree that the Bx26 could use more (peak, at least) service.....

The 26 now runs the exact route the 25 did via Asch Loop and out correct?

A Bx28/38 Limited Stop Service can easily be accomplished. The setup I would have uses the Bx30 as the local service between 205th/Bainbridge and Boston/GunHill . Stops would be consolidated between there are and Bartow/Edson so that both variants can run LTD all times except late nights.

The limited stops would be (from east to west)....

- Bartow/Edson

- Bartow/Gunther

- GunHill/Eastchester
- Gunhill/Dewitt Pl - (5) station

- GunHill/Burke

- Gunhill/Boston

- Gunhil/Bronxwood

- Gunhill/WPR

- GunHill/Webster

- 210th/Bainbridge (Montefiore Complex)

- 205th/Bainbridge

- Local stops to Fordham Center for the Bx28.

Good thing I have a copy of the July 2008 map on my wall lol

As you can see on the map, the Bx26 went through all the sections of Co-Op City. With the Bx25 it went straight across Asch Loop (like a shortcut) and went to section 5.

...come to think of it, I think Asch Loop is part of Section 4, not completely sure.

how much faster was the Bx25 than the 26? and How many people would purposely take the 25 or 26?
