Lance Posted January 26, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 26, 2017 It likely depends on the depth of the tunnel and the strength of the signal. One time, I was able to hold a cell phone conversation underground between 3 Avenue and Hunts Point Av on the train.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted January 26, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 26, 2017 Although officially there is no service in the tunnels I have been able to send texts load some apps and other stuff in some tunnels.Anyone else having that luck? Sure I've been able to track express buses for various stops. I once was able to catch one by taking a train down to 23rd and Park Avenue South. Had I not done that I would've just assumed that I missed the bus and would have sought an alternate route to get to Brooklyn. Definitely helpful in some cases. I just don't want to see it come full circle because people are too inconsiderate, not to mention they become oblivious to their surroundings, so you have people that realize at the last second that their stop has arrived and then jump up and try to run off of the train, which can lead to unnecessary delays and the like.
