Or any dynasty for that matter- the Clintons, Bushes, Kennedys, Romneys (yes his father was also a governor)... I've had it with all of them.  A bunch of rich twats who don't give a toss about the rest of us.

Welcome to the U.S. of A ;) !

It's like they say "Get your money up and weight up" Then you wouldn't be at the whim of another.

The New York Machine is the problem, the Republicans are not necessarily any better, and it's all because the state is set up to fail.

Upstaters hate the City and want to screw it over, so they don't give it enough home rule power.

The City, due to its lack of home rule power, enacts City-tailored laws at the State level.

The City-tailored laws wreck Upstate's economy, so Upstaters hate the City and want to screw it over.

Democrats are shoo-ins in the City because the Republicans are so toxic.

However, Democrats need to pick up votes from Upstaters who hate the City because the City is not a majority of the State's population.

Therefore, our current Governor, who won only because of the five boroughs, loves firing potshots at the City whenever he can.

Rinse and repeat. These terrible power dynamics are only fixable if the State Constitution is amended, but once you open it for amendment, every section of it is fair game, including the part where pension benefits are locked in for existing employees, so opening the Constitution for revision is a giant radioactive football.
