Signal maintainer/ car inspector practical exam

Recommended Posts

I recently took the signal maintainer practical skills test and I have a few questions.

1. How is the test graded? Is each portion of the test graded differently? Example: valve= 30% wire circuit=50%

2. Usually about how long will it take to hear back if you passed or not?

I passed every part, but I don't think I did to well on the troubleshooting... I kept second guessing myself and I wasn't 100% sure that there was a certain problem so I believe I only correctly found one trouble out of the 3. But for the circuit I completed on time and the lights turnt on and the valve I followed all instructions and didn't skip any steps.

why do you say you messed up on the trouble shooting? what did you have to test on the trouble shooting portion? Diode? led? resistor? capacitor? Fuse? did you test the Battery as well to make sure it had power?

how many parts were they?

On the troubleshooting portion, they can give you either one of the components you listed and I believe I messed up because I wasn't sure that I found the trouble. I sencond guessed a lot and I kept changing my answers. I believe I did horrible on this portion... but if this doesn't effect the final grade to much I should be fine hopefully
