Around the Horn Posted April 3, 2017 Share #5 Posted April 3, 2017 Don't they have a schedule for it? This way the poor sap isn't waiting around for it. The only public schedule, as far as I know ,is the end points which they put on the website when its that time of year

Is that it? Takes some dedication.

Pretty much or you wait at one of the terminals at the time they specify
Fan Railer Posted April 4, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 4, 2017 If you're looking for the holiday train, it is BEST to wait for it at the 2nd Avenue terminus. Everywhere else, the train is crush load and the Queens Plaza terminus is not ideal since the train just picks up up and leaves (doesn't sit there for very long). Here is the schedule for the December Holiday train. It's the same every year: http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/RidetheHolidayNostalgiaTrain.htm
Lawrence St Posted April 4, 2017 Share #9 Posted April 4, 2017 Can't they run the Holiday Train to 179th since it can't idle at Queens Plaza for long?
Around the Horn Posted April 4, 2017 Share #10 Posted April 4, 2017 Can't they run the Holiday Train to 179th since it can't idle at Queens Plaza for long? Since its only one train going back and forth, that increases the headway significantly. Plus, it terminates in Queens because thats the closest terminus, not necessarily cause they want to. In fact, I'd suggest running it between 2 Av and 96 Street now that SAS is open...
Fan Railer Posted April 4, 2017 Share #11 Posted April 4, 2017 Can't they run the Holiday Train to 179th since it can't idle at Queens Plaza for long? LOL wut... and have them only make 2 round trips each Sunday? Departures from each of the current termini are already on 90 minute intervals. Daniel The Cool Posted April 5, 2017 Share #12 Posted April 5, 2017 In fact, I'd suggest running it between 2 Av and 96 Street now that SAS is open... Not a good idea since the Train usually runs extra service during the Holiday Season weekends.
