This may sound like a really weird question to ask...but does anybody here know the real reason why did the (:D© trains switch places above 145 St?

Back Then:

(B) From Washington Hts-168 St, Manhattan to Coney Island-Stillwell Av, Brooklyn (weekdays only)

(C) From Bedford Pk Blvd, Bx/Harlem-145 St, Manhattan to Euclid Av, Brooklyn.

Now:

(B) From Bedford Pk Blvd, Bronx (Rush Hours) or Harlem-145 St (Weekends), Manhattan to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

(C) From Washington Hts-168 St, Manhattan to Euclid Av, Brooklyn.

Why did the (N)(R) switch places above Lexington Av-59 St?

Back then:

(N) from Stillwell Av-Coney Island, Brooklyn to Forest Hills-71 Av, Queens

(R) from Bay Ridge-95 St, Brooklyn to Astoria-Ditmars Blvd, Queens.

Now:

(N) from Astoria-Ditmars Blvd, Queens to Stillwell Av-Coney Island, Brooklyn

(R) from Forest Hills-71 Av, Queens to Bay Ridge-95 St, Brooklyn.

Well supposedly the (N)(R) switched because:

With that arrangement, the (N) had direct access to both Coney Island Yard and Jamaica Yard, while the (R) didn't have direct access to either. They switched northern terminals to give the (R) direct access to Jamaica while the (N) would keep direct access to Coney.

Thats actually correct!

and similar goes for the (:D and (C) lines. Both (B) and (D) can share cars out of concourse and CI while the (A) and (C) can share cars out of 207st, and at times 174th
