Bus Operator, Exam No. 7612

List Status:  This list has been extended to October 17th, 2023.

Pay: The current minimum salary for Bus Operator is $24.16 per hour for a 40-hour work week, increasing to $37.42 in the sixth year of service.

List Number Called: For initial Pre-Employment: (Complete) - For Medical: (Complete)

Next Training Class: You will be scheduled with candidates of more recent Bus Operator exams (which are pinned), so check those threads for more up-to-date recent information.

Resources: DOB New Hire FAQ, Handouts & DMV Road Test Prep Videos (if necessary)

Additional: For those who will be reporting to Livingston Street in the future, click here for the pre-employment packet and click here or for extra pages of the CPD-B booklet (if you need them) for final processing. In addition, if you need help getting your Class B Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP), I would encourage you to check out cristcdl.com. Remember, the multiple-choice exams that you need to take and pass, at minimum, are General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Passenger Endorsement.

For those of you who wish to restore your name to the list, you must do so by sending an e-mail to certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov. In your e-mail, state your full name, exam number, list number, the last four of your social security number, and a brief reason why you're restoring your name to the list. You don't have to go into full detail in the e-mail.

Good luck!!

This means, that the demographics of approximately 1,463 people have been sent to the Human Resources Department. Out of these 1,463 people, whoever is successful in getting through the pre-employment process between the drug test, physical, final processing and the 10-day training session will get the job.

Keep in mind they go by list number order and those on the B/O 4600 list have the first priority, since that list is older compared to this one.

Thank you young, you along with everyone else has been very helpful throughout this process. I looked at the Civil service list, and i found 4 versions of my list number. 3 of the 4 say "200" number of vacancies, and 1 of them say "1000" under number of vacancies. Does anyone know what that means?

It just tells the number of vacancies, also known as open positions, that need to be filled. If you type into Google "vacancy definition," the first definition is "an unoccupied position or job."

I have good news for you folks!!

If you check out the NYC Civil Service List Certification page, followed by typing in "07612" in the search box on the top right, on February 6th (yesterday) the agency "certified" those candidates whose list number range from 14 to 1,463. Now if you look at the far right side of the chart, they say they only have 200 vacancies available. However, just like with all of the other civil service examinations I took, you start out with a high certification sequence number, and then as it gets lower, the agency will make an effort to get in contact with you one way or another.

Good luck everyone!!

Hey, I checked out the link you provided and I’m list number 188, but the date it says I was certified was back in November not February 6th. Does that mean I won’t be getting contacted like the other people who got certified on the 6th?

I know what vacancies mean , but like i said before since its only 200 does that mean only 200 of the 1463 will be hired ?

Only the people out of the list that pass all screenings and training....up to 200. When they fill the 200, we have to wait for the next time vacancies open up again.

And let me add that if you either fail to show up for whatever reason, get placed on medical hold, have an issue with your license, etc., they do not hold vacancies.

Just keep that in mind...

I got my cdl permit yesterday. I should of had it for exam 7105. But I didn't expect them to call me up sooo soon. Plus I had to change my kids schools get situated and I honestly was not ready.

But now I am. I got my permit and I called 180 Livingston and they're checking if exam 7105 is even a working list. I hope so.

But I'm also on the 7612 list. 14xx. I prefer to go for 7105. But it is what it is.

What I'm worried about Is my blood pressure. I smoke, my blood pressure is high. My question is this. If I take medicine and lower my blood pressure do they ask what medication you take? Also it you get put on medical hold can I go to my doctor that same day and give them a letter that I'm okay to drive? And in case you get put on hold how long for it to come off ? Does it come off once you have a letter from your doctor?

And I'm sorry if I ask about medical or blood pressure in this thread. But its been a while since this topic was brought up. I know its hyper tension I have. But I my doctor did prescribe medication just to lower it. And it helps.

And if anyone else has tips to share on lowering blood pressure please share.

For commercial driving as long as you have your hypertension in check, you should have no issues with your medical. Stay healthy and you should be good to go. Just keep those in charge informed of your medication.

I honestly think it's best you get called off 7612, but everyone has their own reasons.

As far as medical holds: If you get a note from the doctor, whether it's your PCP or a specialist, the notes are good for 90 calendar days. Therefore, if you go for medical tomorrow, March 20th, as long as the note from the Physician is dated after December 20th, 2018, you will be good to go. As far as how long you're on medical hold for depends on you. Keep in mind that they do NOT hold vacancies.

Next, as far as the Blood Pressure, it has to be 110/70 to 130/90. Anything lower or higher will result in you being placed on medical hold. As far as lowering it - try eliminating caffeine, sprinkle cinnamon on your food, etc. The reason why I say "etc." is because if you Google "How to Lower Blood Pressure," there are at least 100+ articles that will help you do this without a prescription from your doctor.

I appreciate it young. I'll do that.
