METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY REQUEST FOR FEDERAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND OPERATING ASSISTANCE PROJECTS


The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, September 7, 1989 at 4:30 p.m.,

(registration will be open until 6:00 p.m.) in the MTA 5th Floor Board Room, 347 Madison Avenue, Manhattan (access for the handicapped is available to the Hearing Room), in connection with requests to the

Urban Mass Transportation Administration (UMTA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation for financial assistance pursuant to Section 3, and/or Section 3(a)(1)(c), and/or Section 4(i), and/or Section 5, and/or Section 6, and/or Section 9 of the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964, as amended, and/or Federal Aid to Urban

Systems (FAUS), and/or Interstate Transfer funds, to advance capital and operating assistance projects for the systems operated by the New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA)/Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MaBSTOA), Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Metro North Commuter Railroad (MNCR). Financial assistance

received i- recent years requires that federal funds be matched by a local share contribution of 25% for Section 3, 20% for Section 9

Capital, 50* for Section 9 Operating and 15% for Interstate Transfer funds.
