Violations that get you suspended, especially those that come with 20 days and winding up on sick control will definitely hinder your opportunity when you get considered. Sick control is much more than just being under the threshold of percentage of sick days. (I forgot which % of sick balance under will land you in sick control) If you also bang sick multiple times and it loosely resembles some sort of pattern or you don't submit sick lines when you're supposed to, you can wind up on it as well.
