Via Garibaldi 8 Posted November 20, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2017 I got on in Riverdale this morning, and upon taking my usual seat, I noticed several cameras placed about. I didn't notice this before. When did this start and why?

(Check out my latest photo thread) I use Metro-North at least a few times a week and last used it the week of November 6th, so this must be something new. They often times overhaul the cars in the shop there along the Hudson Line and then send the trains out in the morning, so you'll see new seats and all sorts of other goodies. Truckie Posted November 21, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 21, 2017 The cameras came around as a result of the FRA recommendations from the 2013 Spuyten Duyvil derailment for forward facing cameras and cameras in the operating cabs. The cameras started getting installed approximately spring of this year. The FRA recommendation was expanded upon to include passenger areas to be used as a tool to investigate other safety related incidents including gap incidents, other safety related mishaps and criminal activity.
