LA Crenshaw Line update: 5 Green Line stations closing

I'm trying to understand why they need to close the entire West End since the wye for the LAX connection was already connected to the Green Line with track, switches and pantograph back when the line opened in the 90s.

But it’s almost possible to go from LAX to East NorthEast LA County on one fare.

Tracks, switches and overhead was not made. only thing made was the roadbed.
