Triboro RX Discussion

Hello!

I have started this thread as a place for people to discuss ideas and present their own plans for Triboro RX, such as equipment, construction, operation, types of routes and services , etc.

My route-

Bronx:

Line will start by Highbridge on MNR. An electrified tunnel using cantenary wire will be built under the Cross Bronx parking lot, and this can hopefully reduce congestion and give the Bronx a crosstown line it deserves. Stops will be at University Av, Grand Concourse,  and Southern Blvd. The main route will curve south at and merge with Amtrak, while a new route may continue under the expressway to Throgs Neck, where it may either terminate or turn south into Queens, where it can run to the Port Washington branch. As for the mainline, it would continue down Amtrak's ROW with stops at Whitlock/Hunts Point and maybe a stop at Oak Point Yard.

Queens/Brooklyn:

The line would then head south to Queens via the Hell Gate Bridge, and a new stop could be placed on Randall's Island for use during game days. The line would then continue through Queens with stops at 33rd St and 25th Avenue. The line would then head down the Bay Ridge Branch with stops at Northern Blvd, Queens Blvd, Eliot Av, Metropolitan Av, Myrtle Av, Wilson Av (transfer to  ) , East New York (LIRR transfer), Livonia Av (transfer to  and  ), Linden Blvd (transfer to  ) , Rockaway Pkwy, Kings Hwy, Flatbush-Nostrand Avs ( transfer to  and  ) , Ocean Pkwy, New Utrecht Avenue, and 8th Avenue, (transfer to  ) where it would terminate on a new siding (to not disrupt freight traffic). Service could also be provided on the LMB if needed.

Equipment:

Trains will be DEMUs with third rail and cantenary connections, similar to the M8. As for design we could see something similar to the Bombardier Electrostar class in the U.K. but built to LIRR/MNR specifications.

-------

As for a yard, if you built more tracks at the 65th Street terminal and a shed, you could probably have a yard there. If not, you would have to stick in the Bronx.
